August 1970
Just found this programme entry, with a great photograph by the late Lynton Money ( all credit to a great racing photographer).
ROGER WILLIAMSON with the famous 1.litre Anglia. He was just 22 years old when this was taken. |

My website has some pics of super saloons I took back in the 70s at Ingliston and Knockhill. The site is mainly rally orientated but please take a look.

I didn't know the superloon went to Ingliston? Some well known cars in your pics there, like Marshall, Whiting, the VW's etc?

I still have some shots to scan and add to the website - e.g. Gerry Birrell driving a Cologne Capri in 1972.

Quality!!
Some legends in that race, some of those cars are much less obviously identifiable from the front profile as they are from the side on view!!! |

Note the red 67 Camaro towards the rear of the field driven by John Pollard and which eventually gets lapped by the leaders. Thats the old Frank Gardner SCA Freight Camaro which Pollard bought off Gardner in 1973. The car has recently returned to the UK.

Something like 32 entries for next Mondays CSCC race meeting at Mallory Park- should be 3 or 4 races for these cars.

Just got back from a great day at mallory. Was great to watch all the cars being pushed once the rain went (although the white escort was going very nicely in the wet). The last race was great with ross holding onto the Carlton and Esprit at the start before they gapped him.
The Carlton was awesome to watch and seeing them all out of the (greasy) hairpin at the end was great! The black jag and American coloured manta were particularly lively coming out! Looking forward to the next one! |

Fab cars, venue,atmosphere.
Must be repeated. Decided i would have to take at least 10 cars home instead of the one. Best day's racing all year for me. |

It was an excellent day, the cars and warmth of greeting and interest from the drivers was superb, a pleasure to talk to real racing enthusiasts about their (awesome) cars and history, shame the weather was so cold!
The racing really got going after the first demonstartion type race, a good few niggles were being sorted on the cars between races. Lets hope the CSCC come through with more races next year. Pics - http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...12977e3&type=1 Vid - http://youtu.be/G2z7-wuuWfo This is too short, filled the memory card unfortunately, d'oh! TURN THE SOUND UP! Spen |

Great stuff, thanks for these Dan!!
I can't recall right now, but do your Dad and Uncle still have the car? Is that Baby Bertha in the first pic at Thruxton?!! i'm wondering what meeting and year that was taken at, because it looks like it's Bob Trotter's and and Nick Oatway's maybe in between Bertha and your dad's car? |

Regarding the pic its defantly Baby Bertha and Oatway in the Gartrac escort . Your probably right about Bob Trotter in the yellow and blue escort think it had a V8 ? Think my Dad would have been a bit low on horse power that day against those three especially at Thruxton. |

Can you please identify the drivers of the two Skodas in the second and other pics?
One of them might be the root of my car. Graham. |
