Off topic about PETRONAS Mercedes SLS GT3
The door of SLS is a gull wing.
If it overturned, driver cannot escape from the car.
Therefore, the car has the emergency exit switch.
If this switch is turned on, the door explode(!).

The door hinges blow off, not the whole door.

Is it just me or does the roll cage around the gullwing door section look a bit inadequate?

DS" should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I'm kinda surprised that such a remote race like that draws a decent number of well-known drivers from Europe, as well as works supported entries (Audi at least).

Just noticed that Creventic are involved in the promotion this year (looks like a low key last minute thing).

Hi,

This race has been going on for years and has been attracting top drivers for a few years now. Although not a Nur 24 hrs kind of race its still decent enough for drivers to have a go. In fact, the works team such as Audi are not guaranteed wins, just shows that the level of competition is iron out once weather and local knowledge comes into play.

It is more surprising to read that an endurance race in Sepang (Which has been hosting F1, MotoGP, SuperGT races) can be considered as a remote race. The world revolves beyond Germany, or Europe for that matter if that is where you are from.

Cheers and enjoy racing.

Yeah, well, it's very fresh.

There are races beyond European borders and seems an unknown Asian team with an unknown line-up of local drivers just defeated the Spa 24-hour kings! Audi was pretty serious about that game tho.

Great to see Nob Taniguichi back in the winners circle again after his win in the BMW in SGT.

I wouldnt call him an unknown driver btw, I knew about him thru his drifting exploits before I realised he also did circuit racing

NOB Taniguchi's race report
#28PETRONAS adopted the "hare" strategy. Push and push.
On the other hand, #15PETRONAS adopted the "tortoise" strategy. Save and save.
#28 led the race. However the machine trouble occurred in the last 2 stint.
Subsequently, #1,AUDI led the race. 2nd position is #15.
Although Yanagida(#15) pushed, he does not catch up with #1. About 35-second difference.
However, #1 punctured in remaining 20 minutes. Yanagida passed #1.
And #15 win.

I wouldn't exactly call Petronas Syntium Team unknown either. They used to run the Protons in BTCC and BMW Z4s in Japan didn't they?

not forgetting Petronasteam was supported by Amg, and their line up is made of Japanese gt drivers and Bernd Schneider, hardly low profile
