Manufacturers Championship

There has been a fair bit of chat in the last week or two about the fact that Holden have wrapped up the manufacturers championship already. It got me thinking what if the Parity model was added to these standings and only the top Two, Four or Six cars were able to count towards the manufacturers championship?
If we took the top performing cars from each manufacturer it would look like this: 2 Car , Holden 3837 Ford 3392 Nissan 2413 Mercedes 2335 and Volvo 1959.
If we dropped the Mercs and the Volvo and had the top 4 Cars it would be Holden 7327 Ford 5727 Nissan 4298.
If we then dropped Nissan out and had the top 6 cars it would be Holden 10419 Ford 7492.

And that is just with the top 2,4,6 Vehicles from each manufacturer. What if each manufacturer had to nominate Two vehicles that could count towards the championship(to allow fairness for the two car manufacturers)? Who would be winning then? I am intereted to hear what everyone's thoughts are but please dont turn this into a bashing thread.

Would an averaging of the points be an option?

Outside Holden fanboys and maybe Holden HQ there are people interested in the manufacturers championship?

This should be what its about. If Holden want to fund in some way every man and his dog at times, resulting in them having more "potential" winners, then it should be averaged across the full field.

You would think that Bathurst wins and/or the Championship wins would be more important.

Strangely, not even Holden translates this success to the dealership level with any sort of strength...

In days gone past, some Sydney dealers were sponsors of cars, and had big events at the dealerships around the Bathurst weekend, to treat past, current & potential customers with a direct link to the sport.

Indeed one dealer had a Group A Commodore race car sitting outside, on the forecourt for a couple of weeks after the Bathurst event... and got a fair wander of foot traffic through the place because of it...

But even dealerships often don't see the synergy.

At the Holden dealership I worked at, the service department copped a spray off the dealer principal for switching the channel on the tv in the customer lounge to the live Friday qualifying.

If I were a manufacturer involved in V8SC, I'd be leveraging off it at every possible opportunity, and encouraging franchisees (dealerships) to do the same. Otherwise, what's the point of investing in it?
