Hope you get your sea legs real quick Rob

As for roads, you freight a quick up to the NT border and go for a blast under the new "no limit" review.

Been around boats for years including Big Berties and ocean racing yacht's ,so no issues with the legs or knowledge.

"No Limit" great either Roo,camel or livestock hit the car and or some latte clown loosing control of his over-priced HOS....not for me.....I value my life.

Would anyone have a shot of Phil Parsons' Capri and Glenn Molloy's 635 from the 1985 ATCC or AMSCAR season?

Thanks for that Graham.

On the V8 site last week they had an article on one of he DJR Mustang's, where the article indicates the Bill Pye Mustang was the one that went to New Zealand.

Forgive me for not going through the 274 pages of this thread, but wasn't this covered in this thread somewhere and we had it the other way around? Bill Pye's car was the ex-Ian Love car in WA, while the car in the DJR museum these days is the one that went to Robbie Kerr in NZ??

I'm pretty sure that on a Bowdens museum tour Dan mentioned that their car came from WA. He definitely said that their one was the more successful in the period of the two cars, thats why they wanted it and not Bill's car when it was for sale.

That looks like a step down!! An old transit van and old car trailer! Not like the supercar and porsche cup days with the big prime-mover etc!

This small scale amateur form of motorsport is the best anyway. Hope he has fun!

...and the Sports Sedan community are going to be in mourning when they find out that the Mike Ceveri Sports Sedan has been parted out so someone can get the body shell to restore back as a Grp A Sierra.

The only thing Grp A on that car was the shell, a rolled one at that. That Sierra had more authenticity as an Australian Sports Sedan Championship winner than it ever did as a Grp A car.

It may well be more remembered as a championship winning sports sedan but funnily enough it'll probably be worth more as a Group A car. The other consideration is that it will at least be able to race in the Group A&C category as opposed to the nearly non existent Group U for Sports Sedans.

Agree on all points. The value of the completed car would be lessened knowing the history however. I wonder if the Kevin Clark Mustang is next?

What's the Group A history of this car please?

I dont think it raced much at all before being destroyed. My understanding is that Ceveri bought the shell and nothing else. The doors, hatch, guards etc are all long gone along with the firewall of course. Here is how it looked when up for sale http://www.my105.com/listingdetails.aspx?id=2429

However if the tags are there I guess it will be classed as a genuine GrpA once restored.

That will be expensive to restore to Group A specs.

I always believed this was the OXO car that Don Smith rolled at Sandown.

Unless it has the original Group A log book, it would be a total waste of
money converting it back to Group A spec's.

Even with the original log book, a car cut up that severely is going to be expensive and questionable as to whether it would be accepted as "the car" by The Historic Commission now.

If the original logbook was retained by the replacement shell (as Dick Johnson's first XD and XE did, and the 1980 ex HDT Commodores), then the shell won't have the provenance... but nor will the replacement shell have the provenance of the car as it was with the original shell.

They'd be far better off to retain it as the Ceveri Sports Sedan... it's spent far more of its life as such anyway.

I believe there was no replacement shell in this case...

A brand new shell was built up to replace the rolled Oxo Supercube, and was used by Mr Miedecke to fight off the Europeans at Bathurst that year. Whether that chassis, which was toasted at Lakeside in 1989, used the same logbook isnt clear.

Arent logbooks tied to VINs?

How would buildups from a body in white affect that? A number of Falcons, Toranas and Commodores were built from cleanskin shells/shells that carried a part number and little other identification. That may have evolved, but I've had it confirmed that the 1981-2 ATCC/1981 Bathurst victor continued to use the logbook of the 1980 "Rock Star"... when Messrs Donnelly and English resurrected that car, it was issued a new logbook... so, from a historic rebuild/CoD point of view, the 1980 car that propelled Dick Johnson to the fore no longer exists. And Camaroz has detailed his tribulations at great length, all based around reshells.
