I pick up the motorsport newspaper today to find an article about the 2001 BTCC, with the following computer generated image of what the factory Vauxhall is going to look like ... (sorry about the shyte quality, but you get that)

They say it looks like a step down from a DTM car, but i reckon it looks more like a remote control car...no wonder many of the ace drivers want out...the 2001 BTCC Champion will be a fat arsed 14 year old with a snotty nose and remote control...the championship will be coming to a backyard near you shortly!!

I've gone looking for a website for the Vauxhall team, and there is nothing on the net...the vauxhall website has le mans and rallying....obviously their commitment to touring cars is too big too handle...?

Then i went for a stroll through the links part here at 10-10ths....

Teams
Ford, Volvo, Renault, Honda and several other of the major manufacturers are represented in the BTCC

Gaaaa? Someone aught to check on this....i could have swarn...

Donnington have now confirmed rumours that they are building a 100 foot radio mast for next years BTCC meets.

Teams entering next years RCSP+C (Radio Controlled Super Production + Championship) where concearned that their hand held controlers wouldn't pick up the unmanned cars in the dead spot at the bottom of the old hairpin.

Vauxhall say they are now happy with this arrangement and may well field up to 30 more cars, Ford however in a drastic bid to keep cutting costs after McRae's receant pay rise, have said they are still looking at the option of a trailing wire arrangement and are in talks with TOMY right now. Reid has been testing this arrangement and says it is very difficult to control as his co-ordination isn't what it used to be

A announcement of a possible Renault/TYCO link up is expected soon.

THERE WILL BE NO REMOTE CARS!!!!!!!!

But in order to keep damage costs in check

BMP will groove slots in the track with an electric wiring system build under it.

no more need for the expensive gravel trap aswell.

Oi!! What's wrong with radio controlled cars??? I drive my RC Mondeo at least as well as Alain Menu (I've never come near putting my car in a lake), and Chris Y was definitely doing some Mullerslides (TM) on Sunday in his Vectra

All we need are meatier looking cars (nearly there...) and 3litre twin turbo engines kicking out around 600bhp...that would be awesome, especialy round Oulton and Knockhill!
Failing that what about this revoloutionary(?) idea a production based 2litre 300bhp car with big wings and splitters...oh yeah they binned that idea

And did he do it with his ever-attatched camera on his face?

Don't despair, they (BMP) will realise they have made a grave mistake and change everything all over again in the next couple of years. Well, actually maybe not...

I think a mistake has been made by BMP in giving in to Ford and the Focus entry next year.
The general concensus on this forum has been that we'd all like to see four-door saloons (sedans) in the BTTC - leave the coupes to the NSC and DTM.

There was already a vehicle length concession in place when the regs were announced earlier this year. But Ford pushed for more...

And another thing. Why are Ford intending to use the Focus anyway? They already campaign the Focus (quite successfully) in the WRC. Surely it would make sense (from a marketing point of view) to run the Mondeo in a touring car class? As far as I'm aware, the WRC and BTTC 'Foci' share little in terms of hardware. Why is this so? Is the current Mondeo that close to the end of it's run?

In retrospect, I presume it's all to do with Vauxhall's Astra entry. There I was thinking the revised car length regs would allow a whole new range of FOUR DOOR cars, and in reality it's going to change the face of Touring car racing for ever...

End? I thought Ford has just introduced the next generation Mondeo? It kinda resembles the Focus?

You can say that again. So will the '01 cars be also called ST cars?
