When RLM did the LMP2 WEC class preview earlier this spring it was pretty clear that Dome was dying as a participating name in this sport anyway.

Very sad news for me as I loved the cars since the stunning Dome BMW and the S101.
As nearly the whole engineering stuff of the S103 LMP2 is now at TRD the DNA of the S103 can live on. Dome has never stopped the development on the LMP1 version and so maybe there is the chance to see a LMP1 ( call it designed by Dome) in the future. The only question is, is Toyota interested to build a customer LMP1 by TRD in Japan for maybe Strakka and/or SARD. |

Well, Japanese Samurai gave us some information on the staff transfer. According to this, they arent going to TMG but TRD in Japan which Kinoshita-san is now heading. So I wonder if this will bless SARD or if a new project is in store for these guys. And what about Strakka?

e. I thought that Strakka owned the IP for the S103? So if it's going to live on, it would have to be a Strakka effort. |

I wonder whether Strakka will continue much longer with the car. It looks well off the pace of the other LMP2 cars, even after switching to Dunlops.

Dome always have interesting designs, they just never really work unfortunately.

During the Racing for Holland years they did pretty well. Several top 10 finishes at LM.

Btw it is fair to blame Dome for a gearbox damage. The gearbox was not designed by Dome. The car is not on same level like Ligier or Oreca now but it showed a much better pace in the earlier hours. They need more testing work. |

And better drivers. Lapierre and co some other drivers like in the jota were on another level.

I think they will with all the effort that they have put into the car. Also, that was the first race with the car in Dunlops so hopefully it will be more competitive at the nurburgring.

I don't think so.
If SARD wishes for original LMP1, Dome S103 (LMP1 version) is logical choice. Dome has S103 monocoque and IPs. Toyota Techno Craft has development staff. The only problem is the fund raising ability of SARD. |

Seeing a lot of Toyota influences, especially the rear endplates attached to the floor.

It would be nice to see this racing. But after seeing all the problems the P2 car had and its underwhelming performance, I have my doubts about the LMP1's competitiveness. But the more the merrier

The dome lmp2 had a switch to new dunlop tires a lot later than every other team. They ran ok at Le Mans until the failure. Id love to see the Dome lmp1 ran by SARD. Is Kinoshita involved at all or just TRD?

Domes always fail down on reliability. They should focus on that instead of going for speed (really they were disappointed for not getting the highest straight line speed - who cares???). With Strakka and Leventis it doesn't really matter anyway. Also only having one single chassis in the entire world isn't doing good. Two would increase chances. But of course that is now pointless in the world of spec-LMP2
I would love SARD-Dome P1 but it's gonna be cheaper, easier and more results-guaranteed to just purchase R-One from Oreca or something. Maybe even talk to Oak. SARD could have talked to Dome this year already in P2 instead of going with the doomed Morand 'alliance' That windtunnel model is zillion times better looking than the S103 P2 btw |

Motor Fan Illustrated magazine's S103 report.
*Le Mans spec aero parts (diveplane, front fender side fence) were developed by Strakka. (Development agent of S103 is shifted to Strakka from April, 2015.) *S103's doors were changed to 2 hinges because regulation interpretation became strict in 2015. *Upper exhaust was changed because exhaust blowing couldn't be controlled. |

According to Motor Fan Illustrated magazine,
Dome LMP1 had the unique concept that air under the side pontoon is flown between the rear cowl and the rear diffuser like AMR-One. The concept had potential ability, but it was canceled by the lack of resources. |

Yeah, but they had to completely change the rear end, head restraints and door hinges because of design problems causing months of delays. I'd say that's Dome's fault.
