Let's be fair. IMSA is allowing them to use all of the run off as road, so the IMSA qualifying times should be a couple of seconds ahead of where they would be should they be confined to the track.

The #24 BMW and the Mazdas have interestingly had a pretty good on track duel.

They did so while running all over the circuit and not adhering to the actual racing surface, as the WEC cars did. Of course they're going to run faster lap times than last year since they don't have to worry about pesky things like track limits and the WEC cars do. They might as well be running a different configuration this weekend. There is little comparison to make.
