Amazing stuff from both Andre and Neel. Too bad the #2 got rear ended. That'll probably cost them the podium since the ACO will make them change the rear clip on that car since the cheese wedge needs to be on there.

It's actually missing--it's the reason for this FCY due to debris on track. And unfortunately for them, this isn't IMSA. They need to change that rear clip or risk penalties following the race. Even doing it on FCY is gonna cost a significant amount of time.
And unless we have a long or a couple of FCY periods before the end, I don't think any of the front runners can make it from here without a splash. Duval took no tires, Lotterer took rights only. |

No no, not the legality wedge light. The tall light in the rear wind end plate. It is there (as the wing is there), but the lights aren't on.

That's a faux pas from Porsche. Not fixed the wedge, tethers dangling, looked like a man too many over the line...
I think the #1 can just make it from here, Audis will need a splash. |

No wedge, no light, derailing debris and an extra man over the line. Potentially bad times coming for Porsche.

Those were some rookie mistakes from Porsche, they seem to be overly aggressive on all fronts today.

I think that they only need one tail light/brake light. But that cheese wedge is the bigger problem unless the ACO also want to make an issue with the rear brake light. But at least both can be fixed by the rear clip change.

About my ESM's Michelin comment from earlier. The #31 is actually third!

Did they even make the rear clip change on the #2?

The Porsche operation seems stunningly smooth. Cars fast and generally reliable. Team make great strategy calls. Pit stops are super slick. Drivers are fast. The one thing they are consistently falling down on is traffic management.
Audi meanwhile have been the exact opposite. Team don't match Porsche on anything, but drivers like Lotterrer are superstar like in traffic. |

That all did seem a bit amateur from the #2 pit crew.

Then they're going to have to at some point. That part that got knocked off is a part that the ACO wants to be on the car unless something changed recently.

Black & orange for #2. Now they will probably lose 4th as well.

Just heard on the race broadcast: #2 Porsche mechanical black flag for the rear legality panel.
So, yeah, in reply to whoever commented that the #2 pitstop looked amaturish, well, that's been a rule in the European based ACO sanctioned series (such as the WEC) for years). |

So the Porsche is back in legal order but there's still the discussion about too many people working on the car. At this rate a Toyota will be 4th.

If that penalty comes, then the #2 is really screwed. Also might explain why Lotterer isn't in full attack mode right now since the #8 team outranks the #7 team in points.
And the #2 is almost a lap down to the #1 Porsche right now. Whether or not it gets lapped is immaterial at this stage. It's now about if they get nailed for the too many crew members working on the car, and how severe that penalty might be. I'd imagine that it'd be at least a stop and go. |

Though the win or a podium is basically a lost cause now, Jani still has the hammer down. If he has to serves a drive though or stop and go for the pit violation, he doesn't want to lose fourth to the #5 Toyota.
