Bit of early information re the air displays scheduled (or hoped for) this year at Croft:
The Twister Aerobatic Team (duo) will be displaying on both days. I think these were the ones that did the dusk 'pyrotechnic' display at last year's Silverstone Classic - quite impressive. As Croft will no doubt be bright and sunny I assume they won't be doing the pyro element. The Russian Yak will be flying again and I understand there is an application in for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight this year. Over & out! |

Last year's event will take some beating for air displays but I'll be there given half a chance, great event.

what event is this at Croft and when?
I love the circuit, might be worth a trip up north for this. |

Hopefully I will be bringing the ex Steve Froines 1960 Britannia-Ford (Formula Junior) over the water to join you in Yorkshire.

Glad to hear it Compte - you & the Volpini are still the 'headline' photo on the Croft website for this event.

I am going to be there with the 1969 Camaro in HSCC Historic Road Sports - another shattering 500 mile/50 gallons of fuel trip in the Chevy ! But the circuit is so much fun and the Nostalgia Weekend so friendly and entertaining that everyone should try it if they have not been. One of the best meetings of the year.

Timetable now online:

Noticeable that there are no Lotii in the Clubmans races.

Looking forward to seeing the Chevy and all the other fine entries! Only 320 miles for me, well worth the journey based on visits 3-4 years ago. |

Thanks to all you Southerners (and other far flung places) for making the effort to come Up North. Croft is twenty minutes away for me - a contrast to the 3 hour trek back from Silverstone last Sunday night .
Re entry , I was hoping to see Jon Milivecic out in the F3 race - but not here this year. Shame , as few drivers are as quick or as spectacular to watch in small single seaters . Excellent FF1600 entry - rubs hands in anticipation..... |

Speaking as an "Effete Southerner", Croft is always worth the trip. It's a long way from Surrey but somehow the journey to Oulton (even though it's 80 miles closer) seems much more of a chore - the fact that the Gold Cup involves driving back in Bank Holiday traffic doesn't help I suppose.
Already looking forward to a curry in Darlington with Justracing, Delta, Compte de Graves and Marcus P. |

Excellent company at the curry venue, really enjoyed last year's meeting, wonderful atmosphere and cracking racing from the single seaters and tin tops alike. Personal bonus for me in that my son is once again tripping south of the border from Perth on Saturday accompanied this time by my 5 year old grandson. Just finished weathering in a roof I'm working on so that's me done for the week, just the small matter of a 300 mile journey tomorrow but as you say it's well worth the effort.

A few 'snaps' from around Croft today - test day for cars and set-up for the historic military vehicles etc (plenty still arriving as I left and the classic car clubs arrive on the day).
Weather set fair - very good tomorrow, chance of an overnight shower Sat into Sunday morning and then dry again for Sunday but potential gales on that day! |

From the silence in last couple of days, I'm guessing Croft was so enjoyable that everyone forgot the Internet had been invented......
In which case, a result! |

It was excellent; better grids than in the past and some cracking racing, Honourable mentions for FF1600 and F Junior especially but whilst some of the races on saturday were a bit processional sunday's were uniformly enjoyable . Weather perfect on sat but a near gale on sun. Just don't ask me about the circuit's random approach to car parking - especially to those people with passes .......

In summary though, another successful weekend for the HSCC at Croft - good racing and grids and the 'nostalgia' displays and parades were on top form. Decent crowd in again. |

Finally got time to post a few, so for starters some from the first race on Saturday - combined Historic Road Sports / 70s Road Sports. The winner was James Dean in the Lotus Europa (70s RS) and the first placed HRS car was in third place - a Morgan Plus 8 driven by Kevin Kivlochan.

The second race was another combined - F3 and Classic Racing Cars - won by Rob Wainwright in a Crossle.

The third race - Historic Touring Cars was red flagged after a few laps when an errant Imp let go of its oil on the approach to the Complex causing mayhem behind. The leader (Mark Jones in a Ford LC) ran wide and a few others had spins. Jones went on to win the re-started race though. It was a bit of a shame as he'd been having a close battle with Warren Briggs in his Mustang in the red-flagged race but after the re-start Jones was well out front.

The next race was one of four Formula Ford races over the weekend such was the large entry and as usual they didn't disappoint. Will Nuthall won the first one - he gets more and more impressive.
