Why would Alpine/Signatech go for Ginetta? A French outfit with a British constructor doesn't seem to make too much sense with 2 major French ones around.
Agreed the second customer (3 cars?) seems in doubt. |

There may be other French constructors but it's not as simple as the same flag. Ginetta already being developed means it could be cheaper than going elsewhere for one off or small number builds. We also now know the ORECA is exclusive to Rebellion, so that'd be another car needing done. The Alpine already has a British engine in it right now too. |

Ligier have ruled out supplying a P1 chassis (they have their hands full churning out P3s), and Oreca are apparently supplying Rebellion exclusively.

If the 2 other Ginetta aren't for Alpine, I'm betting they'll be back in LMP2. With another excuse on why they're allowed to enter LMP2, that will translate into English as "because they're French". Last edited by Akrapovic; 19 Dec 2017 at 20:59. |

It's a waste to have the Nissan only at the back of the CLM1.

Depends on how much Cosworth wants to build more of them, I suppose.

As nissan had 3 cars at lemans i would estimate 4 engines per car already exist, so 12 engines approx, so really its just a case of blowing the dust off and re-dressing them for rear engined LMP1.....easy money for Cosworth.

That's a shame really. The LMP1s for next year then are:
2xToyota 2xSMP 1xManor 1xDrangonspeed 2xRebellion Total: 8 cars |

Honestly, I never trusted the 2 ginettas rumor. Anyway 9 full season lmp1 is a really great achievement considering that audi and porsche withdraw put in jeopardy the whole WEC concept

Any chance the Alpine potential programme is separate to the 2 ginetta announcement?
Can't see Alpine going for BR though, and Oreca are exclusive to Rebellion Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk[/QUOTEl] Shocker......i suspect Ginettas LMP reputation is still mildly tainted from the LMP3 fiasco, so quite simply they need to get behind Manor and do the talking on the track, and prove its competitive, then other customers will knock for more. |

Ginetta G60-LT-P1 update.
http://www.dailysportscar.com/2017/1...ompletion.html Ginetta G60-LT-P1 - Mecachrome V634P1 is quite a mouthful. |

Quite expensive for sure, for a 2 cars effort will be required 5 mln $ + extra budget for spare parts just to have two cars.

It seems that you'd be pushing close to $2.5 million USD ballpark for one Ginetta with a Mechachome engine from those estimages (1 and two-thrids million USD for the car, three quarters of a million for a Mechachome engine deal).
Could the Ginetta use different engines? Maybe the Judd or Gibson engines might be cheaper. |

That's main problem of private lmp1.... to be 3-4 seconds faster (at best) than a lmp2, you must to spend x3.5 |

If you are 3-4 seconds faster, equally reliable then spending 3.5 times as much as an LMP2 team is all worth it, if it means you are in for a shot at the win at Le Mans! All that matters is that the gap between LMP1 and LMP2 is big enough to separate the classes, so that LMP1's will always have the first shot at victory. If you can can guarantee that, then you will get the sponsors and with that the budget. |
