Well that's answered that, Parker Chase announced in the AVS Lexus and Starworks is passing on Petit so scratch one car at least.

Sebring encore might be an interesting side watch if there are GT3 cars in it this year. Looks like we'll get Robinson Mercedes and maybe the Compass360 McLaren. Hope there is more. Seeing them on the track with the LMP3 cars could create an interesting dynamic we did not get in 2018.

Sounds like Juncos will actually be back for Petit, with Pigot behind the wheel with Will Owen and Rene Binder.

2019 IMSA Weathertech series has been very very good. Particularly since the 2nd hour at the 12 hours of Sebring. Weather made Daytona rough and same for the start of the Sebring race, but it has been fantastic since then. Hope Road Atlanta can close just as strong.

APD did actually let them run a couple streets with the RSR. Late in the video when he turns down Baker at the aquarium and World of Coke made me wonder, I've driven that and my work escape has problems with the potholes, hope Porsche did a little patchwork first there.

But as we expected/hoped, Risi is back for Petit with James Calado, Alessandro Pier Guidi and Daniel Serra – who co-drove to the GTE Pro class victory in the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans, at the wheel.

Well looks like only one Euro enduro special with Land returning, Grasser not entered, another enduro entry, Precision Performance Motorsport, returns with their Lamborghini. 34 car field with more than a few cars not to return in 2020 running.
Caddy also loses a bit more weight, 15 kg lost brings it to the same weight as the Acuras. No adjustment to the Mazdas though. Risi gets another shot in the dark BOP, minimum weight 1250 kg and 20 hp up on the Daytona trim. |

Surprisingly Road Atlanta seems to often have large grids and green racing. A few years back we had 55 cars and a remarkably green race. But yes, more often that not smaller quality grid is better than field fillers to get to the 50s, especially with questionable driving standards in GT racing lately

GTD looks likely to be a Porsche favored event for the race, that's why I think they gave it 10kg.

Welp, just found my car for gtd.... I will be at petit le mans for the first time since 2011. And for the first time, (and probably only for part of the race) my 7 year old daughter will be attending. Her favorite color is blue, and a blue Porsche is perfect for her!

year in review time:
Best race: Lime Rock Best car: DPI = Mazda; GTLM = Porsche 911 RSR; GTD = Acura NSX Best driver: DPI = Juan Pablo Montoya; GTLM = Nick Tandy; GTD Pro = Mirko Bertolotti; GTD Am = Trent Hindman Best move: #67 Ford pit strategy at Lime Rock Dumbest move: #52 Oreca P2 punting Porsche and subsequently hitting BMW at Watkins Glen Best moment: Mazda guys in victory lane at Watkins Glen Worst crash: tie (50 Caddilac at CTMP, 73 Porsche at Laguna Seca) Best overall thought for season: Great job by drivers and officials to minimizing safety cars Worst overall thought for season: Got unlucky with so much rain at the Daytona 24 Worst luck: #33 Mercedes out of fuel last lap of Road Atlanta Best comeback: Risi Ferrari wins Petit Le Mans Most disapointing performances of year: DPI = JDC Miller Caddy; GTLM = R.L.L BMW (other than Daytona); GTD = Starworks Audi Something from 2019 to carry over into next year = Green flag racing! Something from 2019 to not carry over = questionable BoP adjustments GTD silvers who might get upgraded to gold: Hindman is probably the only one "at risk" |
