Larry Perkins Interview
Watched the interview over the last few days, that the Enforcer and the Dude did with Larry.
Always been a big fan of Larry’s driving and engineering ability over the years. I liked the discussions about his time in Formula 1 and lower ranks in Europe- it must have just bloody hard work. If you are keen student of motorsport, and Australian ingenuity- worth a look. |

Second that. Also like discussions about Larry's engineering, and what he's up to now.

Totally agree, and even from his living room during yesterday's Bathurst 1000 Larry showed he is still right on the money when a text he sent to Skaife calling out Coulthard's holding back of the field made it to air. The sport is the poorer without him and a few other being involved.

Loved to have been a fly on the wall, when Larry did his presentation to Mercedes Benz about putting overdrive into some of their off road vehicles.

Not sure if he ever did the actual challenge, but he certainly went across Australia from West to East in a solar powered car, called the 'Quiet Achiever' (also known as BP Solar Trek)back in 1982. He did it in partnership with Hans Tholstrup, the man who went on to set up and run the World Solar Challenge. In effect the journey was the inspiration for setting up the challenge.
Larry's brother Garry was also involved. The three of them devised built and developed the car. Larry and Hans were the drivers, Garry more the mechanic. It took them 20 days for the 4000 klm journey Larry with others is mentioned in the history of the event here:https://www.worldsolarchallenge.org/...c_route_part_1 Last edited by E.B; 3 Nov 2019 at 17:00. Skaife is a true sensationalist journalist
I can't be bothered listening to him, his opinions are worthless As for the in-jokes - well???? at least he thinks his own jokes are funny |
