BTCC Game 2020
With the confirmation that Simpson is not racing this year, we now know this year's entry list, so the game is on again.
The rules in general are the same as those from 2019, with additional clarifications given below. PLEASE READ THE RULES! All you need to do is pick one driver per race and their finishing position is the number of points you will score. The person with the lowest score at the end of the season will win. For instance, if you pick Ashley Sutton for a race and he wins then you score 1 point... Should you choose Tom Chilton and he finishes 29th, then you score 29 points. Results will be taken as those published as classified positions from the tsl timing website on the Monday immediately following each event. Picks can only be entered, changed, updated or amended if submitted prior to the first qualifying session of the season. The entry list (for the purposes of this competition) is as follows: 1 - Turkington 3 - Chilton 4 - Osborne 6 - Butcher 7 - M.Jackson 11 - Plato 12 - Jelley 15 - Oliphant 16 - Moffat 18 - Proctor 19 - Thompson 21 - Bushell 22 - Smiley 24 - Hill 25 - Neal 27 - Cammish 28 - Hamilton 31 - Goff 32 - Rowbottom 33 - Morgan 41 - Boardley 44 - Neate 48 - O.Jackson 66 - Cook 77 - Jordan 80 - Ingram 116 - Sutton 180 - Gornall 777 - Crees Entries with Bushell will be credited with the results of Fuller whilst substituting. Please enter your 29 picks in the following format: 1) Donington Park - Driver Name 2) Donington Park - 3) Donington Park - 4) Brands Hatch - 5) Brands Hatch - 6) Brands Hatch - 7) Silverstone - 8) Silverstone - 9) Silverstone - 10) Thruxton - 11) Thruxton - 12) Thruxton - 13) Oulton Park - 14) Oulton Park - 15) Oulton Park - 16) Snetterton - 17) Snetterton - 18) Snetterton - 19) Croft - 20) Croft - 21) Croft - 22) Knockhill - 23) Knockhill - 24) Knockhill - 25) Silverstone - 26) Silverstone - 27) Silverstone - 28) Brands Hatch - 29) Brands Hatch - I've tried to keep it simple and allow you to enter now and basically forget about it for the rest of the season. But - what about Round 30? There are only 29 drivers, but 30 rounds in the championship. For 2020, a new rule is introduced. When the results of the first 29 rounds are in, your lowest placed finisher of the season to date will be your entry for round 30. For example, if your lowest placed driver all season was Turkington in a 24th - then Turkington becomes your pick for round 30. This will mean there could be large swings to the scores over the final weekend and mean all is to play for right up to the end. PLEASE READ THE RULES! Good luck! |

Clarification of Round 30 picks:
For 2020, a new rule is introduced. When the results of the first 29 rounds are in, your lowest placed finisher of the season to date will be your entry for round 30. If two or more drivers achieve the honour of being your lowest placed finisher, then your selection will be the driver who achieved this earliest in the season. E.g. Turkington 29th in Round 3, Jordan 29th in Round 12. Turkington is your pick for Round 30. |

So I have been having a thought as to how this game will pan out, if events are cancelled during the season.
It would be unfair on those who have already submitted entries if the season has less than 30 rounds, if others take advantage of this and select less than 29 drivers accordingly. Therefore, the following rule is introduced: If a weekend is cancelled, those drivers selected will be rolled on to the next available event and combined with the existing picks. If two or more weekends are cancelled, the selections will roll on appropriately and combine with the next events. e.g. If Donington Park is cancelled, my picks become: 4) Brands Hatch - O.Jackson + Butcher 5) Brands Hatch - M.Jackson + Ingram 6) Brands Hatch - Hill + Cammish If the first two weekends are cancelled, my picks become: 7) Silverstone - Neal + Butcher 8) Silverstone - Crees + Ingram 9) Silverstone - Jelley + Cammish 10) Thruxton - Smiley + O.Jackson 11) Thruxton - Jordan + M.Jackson 12) Thruxton - Bushell + Hill You do not need to amend your entries, I will complete all of that for you. Just submit your 29 entries as normal. |

OK - we are (hopefully) a couple of weeks away from the first round, and the format of the season, as well as the entrants, is unclear.
With that in mind, the game is going to be amended as follows: As it stands, there are scheduled to be 27 races with 28 drivers. If people want to submit new/amended entries right up to the start of qualifying, then that will supersede their current pick. If people want to keep their pick as it currently stands, then any drivers who withdraw from the championship will be removed from their entry, and the remaining picks will be shifted forward one. Once the first Qualifying starts, then any further withdrawals will be covered by shifting all remaining picks forward one place. So, if no changes are made, then the entry of: 1) Turkington 2) Jordan 3) Goff 4) Cammish 5) Plato 6) Thompson becomes: 1) Turkington 2) Goff 3) Cammish 4) Plato 5) Thompson If the alternative happens, and we have less drivers than rounds entered, then after the last pick in the list, you will roll back to the start. So, using the same example, if we end up with 26 drivers, the pick for R1 also becomes the pick for R27. Confused - the main thing to remember is that I will be tracking all of the entries, and after each round I will confirm which drivers were your picks for that round. As always, changes can be made right up to qualifying for the first race, and more entries are always welcome. |

A reminder that entries are still open right up until the start of qualifying.
Obviously, recent weeks have seen the amount of races and drivers fluctuate - and that may continue through the season. With that ambiguity in mind, then the way results are calculated will have to adjust. Any existing entries will stand, I will just remove drivers who are not competing and shift every remaining entry forward. Alternatively, if you want to submit a new entry I will update as required. Going back to the initial situation where we had more rounds than drivers, then your worst performing driver(s) will be used as your entry(s) at the final round(s). If we have less rounds than drivers, then you will have double entries for certain rounds. I will coordinate all of the changes, as circumstances dictate. All I need at this point is an ordered list of 26 names, and I will sort the rest. |
