They'll be transferred anyway - so the email says....
Ticket holders will be contacted by the ticket office regarding their voucher. |

No, sadly not. But at least June 2021 is only 10 months away. Lets hope the world is in better shape by then.....

Ok, who is going to host the 2020 Tenth's pre-race meet up in their garden?

Well, we'll certainly still have a Le Mans week here, that's for sure!

I also expect the local population are going to be very angry, all the inconvenience and no benefit for the local community, suspect many local business people will struggle to survive now

At least if I'm not allowed to go, I can take that as force majeure for my unbroken run.......

Yeah, but it's not a huge population and I bet they were worried about a 25000+ influx from all over Europe and beyond in 5 weeks time....

If I was the local population I'd be very happy not to have all these people coming in.
The inconvenience is minimised by the fact there will be no traffic. A few main roads will be closed, but the side roads will be completely usable. |

I think they are more worried about the effect on the local economy, the whole panic is going to drive the worsening crisis into meltdown. With death rates in the UK and most of europe from Covid 19 at levels so low that most countries not even recording any or not reporting them. But panic breeds panic and baby and bathwater comes to mind.

I think we'll have to disagree on this one.

The second "down-turn" which is currently is going on is something ongoing in all European connected countries (not only EU, as Iceland and Norway is turning things down again). Numbers of deaths is low because of precausions. Once the death toll becomes noticeable, it is already too late to do anything meaningful to stop the virus. From a danish view point, there is no panic - just simple health politics taking place. All which is supported by the local population (Aarhus is a current hotspot, where I live) |

Yep, we still have a very long way to go yet before large gatherings can be permitted. Particularly those which involve a lot of people attending from other countries.

If you go back and read again the email and the official announcement, this was not a decision made by the ACO alone. It was clearly made hand in hand with the local prefecture, who clearly viewed the possibility of a Covid spike from the influx of visitors as being more unwelcome than the effect on the local economy. My guess is that the ACO were told that they could have the 5000 and no more. And that, with the resources needed to 'police' it plus the agonies of sorting out who the 5000 would be, caused them to bite the bullet and can it.
