I completely agree with Bella and several others above.
The comments (as I made the mistake of reading) on Twitter about Hamilton's knighthood, made for depressing and annoying reading. People made various comments we've all seen before (taxes, the car, BLM, politics), however those people never seem to have the same problems with any of the white drivers, past or present. How strange, the guy who looks different being held to a completely different set of standards. |

But not as much as those who immediately jump to vilify him.
It is much harder to stop and try and understand the point, to listen. It is much easier to come up with a simple excuse why you don’t need to listen and can continue with your life in ignorant bliss. I suspect, hope, most people aren’t directly racist, even on Twitter, but what they are is uninterested in understanding other people. It’s too much effort and may be upsetting to their current world view. Hence all these other less important things are pushed to the fore rather than the actual issue. |

Karun Chandok, Narain Karthikeyan, Pascal Wehrlein and Juan Pablo Montoya are all non-white or mixed-race former F1 drivers.

I dont understand the negativity. How does the knighthood negatively affect, disadvantage or hurt anyone? There are people squealing like they are being asked to pay for it from their own purse.
Yes it takes one second longer to add a syllable when writing or saying his full name, i think we can live with that pain. In what other way are you suffering that you got such a butt hurt? Hey it makes work for printers making new stationery. He has won more races than anybody ever. He has dominated the sport for years and he has made the sport think about openness and equality (which isnt a bad thing) Im not a LH fan, I prefer it when he doesnt win (Im a Dan man) but I think if knighthoods are to be given to any sports stars for their performance then he deserves one. D'you know I hadn't even thought about those drivers. I presume that proves something positive about me - I don't notice race!
I think motor sport transcends national barriers like no other. As a kid my hero was Swedish, never mind that we had a British world championship challenger to support. It was good to see Hunt do well of course but Ronnie was the best. Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk |

aitken is also half korean.
with the exception of wehrlein (who was always said to be demanding to work with, interestingly from the “uppity black woman” mould) though all these chaps are subject to the usual ~”hard working asian” stereotypes. it’s perhaps interesting to note there’s no dutch drivers of indonesian heritage, british pakistani or indians, or romani drivers. less positive stereotypes from the usual suspects for those folk. |

ah yes, there’s never a shortage of derogatory “kamikaze” references for the japanese drivers, especially the ones who are keen to overtake.
just to add to my previous point, all stereotypes have negative effects on the person being stereotyped. |

It would be good stop and think we had evolved a bit further than denigrating someone along racial, religious, sexual, or gender stereotypes. Anyone who plants his or her bum in a F1 car is doing something we just can't imagine, as much as we wish we could, let alone do. Good luck to the lot of them, except...?

I’m from the UK and I’d like to say Danny has become my favourite driver too. He’s certainly one guaranteed to put a smile on your face

I am surprised that people aren't more concerned with Sir Lewis's stalemated contract negotiations. Does he get a year off following this honour?

Is it a concern?
Is it actually at stalemate? Or has it all been agreed, but just not announced? Or is it about to be signed? We dont know. I assume an agreement will be reached. Is it a concern as such? If Hamilton signs, then we have the possability of a record breaking 8th WDC. If he does not sign, then the possability of Verstappen, Bottas and Russell fighing it out is a very exciting prospect. Of more concern is everything else that is happening in the world at the moment. |

More a case of "do we care?". Rich bloke wants more money, similar impact to "dog bites man".
Great driver, deservedly a Sir but personally I won't be sad if he's not on the grid this year. |

firstly none of us know that for sure. all people have to go on is quotes from the daily express at the moment.....hardly world renound for accuracy. Secondly, as a 7 time champ, why should he want more money? noone complained when Schumacher or Vettel wanted more after winning their titles. Finally....really? if be sad if one of the best driving talents wasnt on the grid this year, it would leave a decent sized hole in the talent pool of F1. |
