Just found this on http://www.diginews.co.uk/
Firstly, apologies for what can only be described as a 'misrepresentation' in the last issue of Digi News UK. For once and for all, here's what happening with regards to F1 on TV... Does Sky have the rights for F1 across digital TV? They are in apparently very far on with talks for UK digital rights for F1. What kind of rights are Sky bidding for? The main rights are intended for national broadcasters, the pictures are supplied by the Host broadcaster at each event and are the pictures seen on ITV in the UK, RTL in Germany and all round the World. The Digital rights are intended for Pay TV broadcasters, usually on a PPV basis. The pictures are provided by Formula 1's own TV company from every event and are totally separate with different cameras and crew from the World feed provided by the host broadcaster. F1 digital provides 6 feeds - Supersignal, Track leader, Track second, Cockpit, Pits & Highlights, Data. The broadcasters tacking this service (in Europe all the C+ services and PremiereWorld) usually also provide a "mosaic" of the different feeds and show every session of the Grand prix meeting uninterrupted by adverts. The service costs subscribers about £5 per event in most of Europe, although it is free to sports subscribers in Germany. Just what I wanted I am a very happy man Every session ? I cant wait I hope its ready for next season I will never watch ITV ever again especially once MW has gone. |
