WSB Monza Results

Top ten
1. Neil Hodgson.
2. Regis Laconi.
3. Gregorio Lavilla.
4. James Toseland.
5. Pierfranceso Chili.
6. Chris Walker.
7. Ruben Xaus.
8. Marco Borciani.
9. Steve Martin.
10. Lucio Pedercini.

Hodgson won with no difficulties whatsoever while the battle for second was fantastic AND frantic.

200th win for Ducati while Suzuki have something to be pleased with being third and the only non-Ducati in the top 10!

Race 2

Hodgson won race 2 but only by 0.044s over Lavilla after taking the lead on the last lap. It would be good if he could let someone else win for a change.*

Race 2 result:
1 Hodgson, 2 Lavilla, 3 Chili, 4 Laconi, 5 Toseland, 6 Walker, 7 Martin, 8 Borciani, Xaus crashed out.

Championship:
1) Hodgson 200
2) Xaus 115
3) Lavilla 111
4) Laconi 96
5) Toseland 91
6) Walker 68
7) Chili 59
8) Martin 58
etc...

(* - a problem not unique to WSBK)

Race 2 was fantastic, a reall thriller at the end and any of the top 4 could've won. Unfortuantely Neil turned out to have more in reserve, and ultimately breezed past. Xuas is such a waste of the top bike, they should've put someone else on there. Chili is embarassing so many guys, on his third-string Ducati.

Despite Neil winning both races, the two at Monza, like usual, were quite good, the second race being an absolute cracker.

NOW I have to agree with Boots. Xaus was bloody amateurish all weekend and when a guy like Chili, at 38 and on a private bike, can out-race guys who are much younger and on far superior machines, then something is amiss.

Hats off to Lavilla for a cracking weekend with two podiums. He's really riding well on the Suzuki.

Only got to see the first one live good safe ride by Hodgson, but I think I'll be cheering for Lavilla for the rest of the season I just want someone other than a Ducati to win for a change.

I'd like to think now the danger circuits are past (Japanese riders or Monza muggings) that Neil could whitewash it and win every race this year. Unless of course Shakey gets him at Brands

True gomick, wouldn't mind seeing a team-mate for Lavilla. Maybe they should call Chili?

As for R1s and CBR's, that would be great but I don't think Honda and Yamaha have any interest whatsoever in WSBK now.

Superbikes used to be important so the punters could see the bikes they ride on the road racing on the track. I guess its not so important now, all the new road sportsbikes are clones of the MotoGP bikes (or vice versa).

Didn't I read somewhere that the future for WSB was even more road based, even running on treaded road tyres?

The treaded tyre thing was thrown around a while back, though i don't think that is going to happen.

Apparently Honda might be back in WSB next year with Ten Kate running the new Fireblade, dunno if it will come off though. Yamaha were thought to come back this year, but it didn't happen.

Vittorio Iannuzzo is Lavilla's teammate for the remainder of the season.
