Brands 14th / 15th June
Does anybody have any idea of the timetable for this meeting as the BRSCC SE web page has no timetable or entry list published. It is normally published by the Monday before the meeting. I hope this does not mean that entries are low again.

BRSCC SE have now published the entry lists and they look a lot healthier than previous meetings.

I'll be there both days. Best I polish the red trainers as they got a tad grubby at the Nurburgring the other weekend.

Great news Road, and I'm glad to see that you will be resuming your battle with David Lees as well.

Sorry to say that David Lees did not make it out for the sports/saloon race, although Buzz Dawkins tried very hard...too hard at times as the marks on my back bumper show. A slow puncture on the Escort didn't help either. I hope the orange clad brigade did not get too sunburnt!!

There were a great number or very red people by the end of the weekend! I was on Post 2 both days and did give a cheery wave as you went over the finish line. Wasn't sure if you were just 'playing' with Buzz at some stage, didn't realise you had a slow puncture!

Just a quick question reference saturday at Brands. Was in the FF1600 qual when there was a lot of oil put down from the 99 car. It was mainly concentrated by surtees and clearways (although there was a trail from druids)and from what I saw alot of drivers were going off. The next lap round most pitted as there wasnt much chance of getting a quicker time. The actual line of oil was quite wide but I never saw any red/yellow slippery flags. So my question is how do you know when to put out the flag for this scenario?
Cheers Richard |

Good morning Richard,
Under normal circumstances if any car drops oil or any other fluid that might cause others to lose traction, the slippery surface flag is shown by the marshals. I have to admit that I wasn'r aware of any oil in your practice session and assumed that the heat of the day and track temperature was the reason for you all sitting out the last part of the session in the pit lane. I was the Observer on Post 2, the one before Paddock Hill Bend and so was the other end of the circuit so cannot speak with any authority on what happened the other end of the track. |

Morning Stephen,
Yeah there wasnt much sign of it up at paddock, mainly the other half of the circuit. I was just suprised as it was obvious something was wrong due to lots of cars going straight on at surtees. When i came in the pits i told a marshall but he said it was fine. That kinda annoyed me as I had feed him info from being out there. Not having a go at anyone, just interested to what makes a marshall put out a slippery flag? Was it a quiet weekend for you Saturday seemed very quiet. |

It is strange that the guys didn't put a flag out I admit. I can only assume they hadn't seen the oil on the track! The problem with reporting it to the marshals in the pit lane is that the information doesn't always get passed to race control, who would then inform the relevant marshals posts.
Saturday was pretty quiet for me so I sat back and enjoyed the weather (and the ladies in the grandstand behind me). Sunday wasn't a great deal more exciting which, if you are a driver, is good news as it means you haven't been to visit my gravel trap You will have to let me know when you are next at Brands and I'll pop by and say hello. |

RMR, at Thruxton a few weeks ago we had oil on the circuit which wasn't visible/obvious from the bank and cars didn't appear to be extra skittish but a few vigourous gestures from drivers pointing at the track soon made it apparent what the situation was. Y/R flags went out pretty quickly.
