any boating store or aircraft supply, try
www.aircraftspruce.com its two part expandable foam but watch out the reaction is chemical and creates heat so don't cook your driver |

Any decent boating supply house will have it - it is floatation foam.

They have it all: a two part kit with a bag, they also provide the shells. A lot of thier systems are used in CART, IRL, ect. |

CART/IRL all require expanded polystyrene bead seats. 2-part foam is not very good as an attenuater in a crash.

Is it possible to 'make your own' from EP? Don't you have to cut that to shape?

Ive tried both the two pack foam and the indy seat.
I found the 2 pack foam v.messy and you have to be very quick with no margin for error on seating position as the foam goes solid very quickly. I ended up using an indy seat. More comfy as it has more give in it. Be careful not to go too big other wise it gets fiddly. For my single seater jedi a 30ltr bag would have been fine. I ended up halfing a 70ltr and it was still almost too big. |

Jonathan, you've lost me. We want to make a seat for a jedi too. What's an indy seat? Where do I get one? how does it work?

I guess you can't jut use the expanding foam filler you can buy in focus/homebase and leading DIY stores.

The indy seat is sold by tweeks and grandpri.com.
It is a plastic bag (different sized ones depending on car) with thousands of what look like polystyrene balls in (sp?). There is a tap at the top of the bag and you can apply suction to the bag (filter stops balls coming out....oooerr) to mould it round you. You then pour in the resin and remould. It then sets over night. You can then cut and shape to perfection. Quite clever really. I mucked mine up a bit, but next time round will be better. If you end up getting one and need some advice let me know. They are quite expensive for what they are, but I do think they are worth it. The advantage I think they have is that you can easily mould side support to get a nice and tight fit. As I said earlier, I reckon a 30ltr would do a jedi fine. |

The best place for the foam is:
http://www.cfsnet.co.uk/acatalog/CFS..._FOAMS_14.html Tweeks do the same stuff for about £30...it is about a fiver here! They also do good range of fibre resin and stuff! |
