JLR to Formula Renault ???!!!

According to to this weeks autosport Top Formula Ford team JLR could be entering the Uk formula Renault Champ in 2004.

Returning after initially entering straight from Vauxhall Jnr.
Intersting to read that the equipment could be sourced from a team currently racing in the fran-am series....
mm Sounds like Firstair, as theres a link between the two from as far back to 95! 1996 :

quote from www.first-air.com

"Richard Dean campaigned a full season in the Dunlop Rover turbo cup with Team Firstair, which was fully justified after he won the opening five rounds, then going on to win a further four rounds, taking nine pole positions and six lap records, to produce one of the most successful one make championship victories to date"

They would be looking to run both Ford and Renault

It would make sense to do that, as to throw in the towel in FF just as they are kicking butts would IMO be wasting all the hard work they have done over the last couple of years.

I agree, my son Jamie Morrow drove for JLR in the 2001 winter FF series and we were impressed by their profesionalism, patience and good humour. Add to that they're based in God's own county of Yorkshire and it can't get any better!! No reason why they can't succeed in both championships.

They could show a few of the present FR teams a thing or two about hospitality thats for sure, not to mention how they present themselves in the paddock.
Very Profesional.

racing dick - whatever they put out (and no Richard Dean is not a relative or paying me to say this!!) you can be sure it will be well turned out.

JLR really understand the importance of ensuring their brand is presented well at all times.

Thanks guy's and girls for the kind words. It's nice to know the work we put into presentaion does not go unnoticed.
Bella, you seem to have a downer on Ford. You are mistaken to think we are even considering dropping Formula Ford. We have no intention of 'dropping like flies' nor do I hear of anybody else doing so. Comtec as I understand it, will also continue in the Formula. We feel the Championship is as strong as ever, new lap record at Mondello and testing or racing times comparable to any previous year. Obviously lap times vary year to year depending on day, surface, time of race etc. Ford has live TV now, 3 different manufacturers winning races and now 5 different race winners. Don't forget we only had three teams managed a podium last year all year. The response we have had from drivers already about next year has never been as strong.
