Tobacco Advertising
Maybe I have my facts wrong, but I thought tobacco advertising had been banned at all European circuits?
Having watched the German GP yesterday I noticed all cars ran in full tobacco livery. Have I got it wrong and is tobacco advertising really allowed at some circuits in the EC? |

Not until mid 2005 Stephen.Germany did have a volontary ban like in the UK but it was suspended as a condition of keeping the second race.

Yeah I think its only the UK and France where the cars run without baccy slogans.
Reason Belgium didnt get a race was because they brought in a ban as opposed to waiting for the EU ban. However they have changed their minds about that one! |

Ciggie adverts are not why Silverstone is in danger of losing its GP... politics are.

Why so much fuzz about it.
Here, the congress banned the tobacco ads, but with the exception to international open events like F1. But now we have ugly ads against smoking (one is Wayne Mclaren is his death bed) before each race, and banner displayed during the race... The idea is fight fire with fire... |

Yeah when I was watching part of the Nurburgring race (before I got on the plane from Rio to Sao Paulo) I saw that every so often there would be a scrolling banner saying that tobacco is bad for your health, etc, etc.
Also dont remember there being the endless adverts that ITV have either! |
