amazing how ducati can have 6 or 7 999's on the grid in 2004, but only 2 in 2003

At least it should level the playing field a bit but it will surely be either Laconis or Toselands championship? I would go with Laconi.

D.R.T.....I agree...that Fireblade of Vermuelen's looks pretty quick on it's first test in Sepang....with a bit more developement I think he will be right up there with the Ducati's...

With so many top-line Ducati's on the grid, Fila Ducati are not quite assured of the title (though it's hard to see them losing).
My sentimental favourite is Frankie Chili |

I agree gom, and you can see from his times at Valencia that he is on it.
Don't think McCoy is gonna figure at all, in testing he has only just been quicker than the Supersport bikes, not all that impressive yet but it is early days. Was probably shocked to be able to go fast again after riding the Green Dog Kwak!! |

who is gom chun - think mccoy can only go better as the season goes on, he is lucky that "the island" is early on in the year

It'd be a sad day for WSBK if a journeyman like Laconi wins the title. Toseland is mroe promising but perhaps not the finished article yet. there is every promise for an open championship, as on paper Haga and McCoy are the best riders but they didn't race here in 2003. Ten Kate will probably have too mcuh to learn to challenge immediately, and Foogy seem ready for wins but not titles. We can only dream of Frankie challenging - it'd be brilliant.

Have to say I rate Regis slightly better than a journeyman. He is a former GP winner after all like McCoy and Chili and won a WSB race. THough I agree he is not first grade, but neither is James. He is very good but not proven at world level yet.
Corser and Haga are the only guys out there who are proven at WSB level and they are not on top draw tackle. |

Think Corser will get a podium (or 2) but not a win yet. If he can take the fight to some of the better Duke teams, he will be doing well. As for Walker, he will struggle a bit by not knowing the bike so well but top 10 finishes are possible.

On past experience Troy is possibly the best rider in the series this year, it's between he and Haga. If the bike is fairly competitive, podiums are certainly possible. A win could happen on a slower circuit, as these still seem to suit the bike more.
Chris is fast too, and he might gain some impetus by moving to a factory squad - it's a shame that he's constantly on the move though. I'm not sure having WORSE luck than Haydon would be possible - does he have a 2004 ride yet? |

Corser is the only past champion in the field, but wasn't he also last year? He also has the most wins of all the riders (25, is it?) to Haga's 11.
