Silverstone in August
Hopefully they won't run short of funds by the time the series gets to the UK in August.

Sorry Jag but I dont agree, most teams that will be racing this year have begun testing, whether its FIA GT/LMES/ALMS or whatever series. And yes Im aware the first round is over 2 months away, although only just but the fact remains that Dams will have a very short period of time to prepare the cars and to get the drivers familarised to the cars. So the drivers and team will have a maximum of 2 months to get familar with the cars, providing of course a deal can be sorted with Care Racing immidetly.
By the way, Jag yes Im aware that there are many teams programmes that have yet to be concluded, but "concluded" being the word, Dams and Care Racing havent even started pre season testing yet, let alone concluding it! |

I meant concluding a deal to race.
Its not like F1 were you have to build and test your new car early to iron out the bugs, these teams will be running customer cars, with only a little testing needed to sort them out. Look at what short notice the Labre Panoz deal happened. |

Yes look at the Labre Panoz deal lol, I bet they will do well. If they are lucky they might even be battling with the lead GTS cars. I wonder too how reliable it will be? Hopefully better than it was at the LM 1000KM. And yes sportscar racing is like F1, although perhaps not to quite the same degree, the teams do need to test to make sure the cars are reliable and to iron out any bugs, or do u think teams like Maserati Corse, Lister, JMB, BCR etc test a lot because they have nothing better to do? If the truth be known every team would be out testing all the time if they had the cash.
IF a deal between Dams and Care Racing happens it needs to happen soon, and they will find it tough i imagine to get good quality drivers at this short notice. Lets not forget too that Dams main focus is Formula Renault V6 eurocup. Last edited by SALEEN S7R; 28 Feb 2004 at 00:36. |

Take your point, but we are talking about off the shelf machines, that have been developed by the manufactuers. a week or so testing prior to the first race is sufficiant, and all many teams can afford.
The non works teams test to get there set-ups correct and get used to the running/maintenance of the car. The works teams and manufactuers as well as the above, will be testing new parts etc. Teams would test 24 hours a day if budgets allowed. As for the Panoz, I would expect a top 8 qualifying spot. amazing - didn't even realise I'd been photograph'd. However, the entire Portugese national journalism association must have been there yesterday - their only National in Sportscars.
Good day's testing for Rollcentre - lots coming out and lots more to come ! |

They're much too glamourous a description, I'm more of a coffee-drinker-cum-Frederic-Dorr-esque-type-person-in-the-background.
But anyway, paddle-shift is on; Sachs dampers are off and iffy geometry now beginning to be sorted. Yesterday, Minassion set a 1:32 (I think) on a track quite suited to a 675 with the multitude of hairpins. I think Mr Barbosa will be up-holding Portugese pride before the end of the test & if it's wet today, Barff(osa) will have pootled away into the distance. |

Is Nicolas able to make a comparaison with what he drove before (LMP1, I mean) ? What about the rear wing ? Did you test the shorter one (180 cm) ? *drool* |

Wasn't Minassian driving the Creation Zytek? Or have I got that completely wrong?

Sorry - clarify - Minny was in the Creation Zytek and set time....he wasn't in the Dallara (& no plans to be; though he has given verbal feedback historically). That was our bench-mark to get near (beat !)
Wing - no not yet - running the 200 for Sebring with plates to sort base-line. 180 will be post tunnel-work... and fortunately, Monza as the 1st LMES, is also a low-down-force circuit. |

Was Jan Lammers the only one who drove the RfH Dome?

Its great to see Rollcentre are actually developing and improving the Dallara, rather than racing it as stock.
Now all we need is for the second chassis to race in the LMES (well Silverstone at least). Is the Dallara a multi year program, adapting the car to the 2004 regs etc. next year, or not. Surely it has lots of potential left in it? Dare I say more so than the R8, at least in the 1000km races. Oh, and without the Frederic Dor type people, this sport would be much poorer! |

Just wanted to mention that Vandijk's team update its site, with a brand new name, Planetlemans... with the new Aysedasi's site, that makes some reading to wait for PQs !

Lammers was the only person in the Dome's (he brought both) on Sunday - that nice Mr Wallace turned up yesterday (a bit jet-lagged, but very happy).
Point of ref for the aero-dweebs - at Silverstone, we finished the test with ~ 3,000lb's of downforce. With some tweaking & new bits & pieces, another ~500 was 'unlocked' yesterday. Look out for some firework times today - weather is good in Portugal. |

More photos of Estoril testing day here: http://sportscargt.com.sapo.pt/dunlop_estoril.htm
Sunday morning, Barbosa's best lap was 1:38. But they improved a lot yesterday. |
