2006 pace

Assuming the proposed 2006 regs go ahead, what kind of pace do you think these F1 cars will have compared to a current car.

5-10 seconds a lap slower?

I would assume the tires alone would take a good few seconds of the average lap time.

Any thoughts?

I think the pace won't be far from what we see this season.

There are various possibilities for what would be in 2006; what are you defining as the "proposed 2006 regs"?

The answer is much dependent on a clarification (feel the F1 person in me, :-p).

I agree. I take it you mean the proposed 2008 regs being brought forward to 2006?

Looking at the F3000 pole time, it was only 11 seconds off the F1, although I imagine the discrepancy would probably be greater at faster tracks.. The last thing they would want would be F3000 to be faster.

I reckon it would be would be 5 absolute max. I think what it would really boil down to is what the specs of the tyre are.

jetsetter should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Every time they come up with regulations that are supposed to slow the cars down the teams always end up finding another way to make the cars go quicker so i don't think that they'll end up being a great deal slower.
