Abramovich to buy BAR?

Roman Abramovich linked again to F1 circus. Now, it has been suggested that Russian billionaire and Chelsea FC owner might be interested in buying into BAR.

I doubt BAR are going to sell considering the performance this year. And if they were there is no doubt it would be Honda that would buy it.

I expect if jaguar will be sold, it will be red bull to go for.

Roman has been linked to every team except Ferrari. Last i read about him buying a team was he was going to buy jordan and pay loads of money to sign Villeneuve.

Not every team except Ferrari, actually. But you are right, he linked to Jordan before.

Let me guess. This speculative piece is based on the 2nd hand story that someone heard someone say that someone thought they saw someone who looked a bit like Roman Abramovich talking to someone who looked a bit like David Richards, possibly somewhere close to Monaco.

Still, that's more to go on than we've had about 2005 Williams drivers...

Well, BAT are likely to want to sell up when tobacco sponsorship is banned. Honda might buy it, but I can see Abramovich being interested.

Re: Abramovich to buy BAR?

Well, the story was denied. According to BAR boss David Richards, Roman Abramovich is not about to buy into F1 despite an interest in the sport.

****....he's got enough money of his own. Why not start his own team? We need more cars on the field. Try to get another manufacturer in the game as an engine supplier like Porsche or Audi.

I've longed wondered why Jordan hasn't gone with that route.

You would like to see Eddie play with the big boys? jk

All this speculation is funny so Im going to do some speculating myself:
Hmmm, If Roman was interested in 'saving' a dwindling effort then he would have made my dreams come true and invested in Everton as his football project Maybe if he were to 'buy into f1' he would want to do it with a top performing team. One has to question what his motives would be - he certainly isnt making much money from all he has pumped into chelsea - So maybe he is doing it for a 'hobby'

So before I went off on one - I think I was trying to say, I can see him investing in a 'successful' outfit - not Jordan, but I think he has enough money to spend 'playing' at the races so maybe he should stick to the paddock club or Bernies private parties and leave the serious matter of racing to those who have the passion and commitment that is required to be the very best.

I would imagine is he didnt have the passion of EJ, PH and co and the commitment to the sport then he could pull the plug at any time - bad for the sport.
