Honda Paintings

I was searching through some photos of paintings I did for Honda in the 90s and if anyone is interested in seeing them, here they are. They were commissioned by the Honda European HQ for design / styling at Offenbach in Germany. Each one is beautifully framed, behind glass and are displayed in the entrance foyer. They are
all in a montage style at 30 x 20ins in acrylics. Limited edition prints of each one were made for Honda to give to VIP guests and visitors at Offenbach and back in Japan.
The first one was commissioned to commemorate their special relationship with Ayrton, which was painted about a year after his accident.

The next one they asked me to do was of the Honda Grand Prix cars from 1964 - 68 with portraits of drivers Ronnie Bucknum, Ritchie Ginther and John Surtees. They did however ask me to leave out the ill-fated car from 1968 in which Schlesser lost his life at Rouen.

Honda had huge success in Formula Two, the Brabham-Honda's of Brabham and Hulme in 1966 and the works Ralts in the early 1980s.

Great work as always Andrew. I suspect it won't be too much longer before they ask for another Japanese driver with Honda engines to be committed to canvas.

No it wasn't! Artistic licence, but looks good on the painting for Taku's sponsors who received some of the prints.

Great stuff as always, Andrew!

But, despite your best efforts, the Spirit still looks one ugly car..........
