I'd say the future of DJR is by no means secure given the teams have been warned not to expect much, if any, income from the RECs and the fact that the team clearly has no cash reserves. Hopefully it'll be a different story in 5 years.

Far cry from the $850,000 per season teams relied on only a few seasons ago. |

I think that what we're seeing is the change from an entrepreneurial style of management to a more structured style that is probably more disciplined but also probably slower to move - the new structure has definitely missed some opportunities - the TV deal being the big and obvious one - and this year sounds like it's not going to be great financially. The test is going to be how the new setup performs under pressure and if they can dig themselves out of what looks like a potential hole. It's not unusual for organisation to stutter and struggle when big changes happen, the challenge is dealing with them and moving forward positively. |

I can't help but wonder if Nathan Tinkler is involved in all of this. At one time he was said to be looking to buy into DJR before he got himself into financial bother.

Cocho must regret keeping any equity in the takeover! Or did he flog it when he stepped down? Not to mention the loss of the series major sponsors such as Telstra and Lion, and to a lesser extent the failure of paying races such as Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, and likely Gold Coast and Homebush! |

With Clipsal and the AGP coming up, it'll suddenly be more "real". COTF needs to really deliver though and there's no question that some of the commercial arrangements need sorting (unless there's going to be a raft of announcements at Adelaide). |

Naturally - wouldn't be a decent discussion if it stayed fully on topic would it?
Back on topic - hope that the Wilson deal is for longer than the Clipsal only arrangement that it is alleged to be in some quarters, very hard to plan ahead and dig yourself out of a hole if you don't know you've got the funds / stability to do it. |

I just hope they can pull some good results and get a proper sponsor interested instead of some haphazard arrangement. |

Two questions spring to mind:
1) Is it a known fact that these two drivers aren't bringing funding, which in essence makes them pay drivers? 2) Can DJR do what Tekno did and hold on for a year to find "sponsors"? |

Mr Blanchard brought money to the team. Not sure about Mr Reid.

Is that really a question? Clearly the team is flat broke and I'd imagine has significant debts to service as well. They couldn't even pay suppliers for parts to build their second car, so they're not sitting on a magical pile of cash somewhere.

Perhaps this is a 'magical pile of cash' waiting to be realised... |

Hardly going to get them through a season without sponsors, is it? Maybe a few rounds at best. If I were working at DJR I'd be checking how long it's been since my superannuation was paid...

Casey Stoner should just come in and save the team (buy outright or significant partnership), buy himself a drive and win some four-wheeled motorsport fans. Why not, he would have tens of millions in the bank and is clearly a fan of the series.

Not that crazy an idea and he would definitely earn plenty of respect/credit and make himself a hero with many Ford/DJR fans rather than just sitting his bum straight into the best rigs.
