Barbeque (or oven at a push) - Leave them in their skins - wait till steam starts coming out and the skin starts splitting - peel the skin back on one side, slit the contents down the middle and poor in your poison of choice - Drambuie or Glava works quite well from memories of Donington Park camping.

Ice cream and chocolate sauce, and lashings of squirty cream may help disguise the taste if you don't like bananas.

I prefer under ripe bananas because they are firmer.

The nicest bananas I've ever had were some very small and sweet tasting ones I had in Brazil. Maybe an excuse for a holiday!

Mary Berry has the "Bake Off". Can we start our own "Marshals' Munches" programme? I bet we could come up with some crackers from our camping experiences.

Sticking with the custard for now. Half a banana with Custard for breakfast. Get it over with early doors!

But I do feel much more like "Shelagh" since starting on this regime. So there may be something to it.

Marshals of the World - start eating bananas. We'll be even more unstoppable!!

Just remember not to drop the empty skins down inside the tyre wall - gets pretty wiffy on a hot day.

I love banana bread.

Try warm banana trifle. Bananas and dried fruit in custard with merengue on top baked in the oven. Don't worry about the calories, it's medicinal and therefore they don't count.

(i) Take one firm banana; remove from skin, which can discarded.

(ii) Place skinned banana in deep-sided dish, and cover in marinade of Scottish whisky. Marinate for a short time.

(iii) Throw away banana; drink marinade.

This won't do a lot for your magnesium levels (but then again, neither will eating bananas which are rich in potassium, not magnesium), but it should make you feel better in the short term, and it does avoid you having to eat any bananas.

I think thats a bit of a stretch.

Peanut Butter and Banana - great.

Peanut Butter and Marmite - great.

Leaving out the Peanut butter and combining the other two ... really not so sure about that.

Might try Peanut Butter, Marmite and Banana on toast tomorrow though. Have a couple of bananas that need to be helped on their way.

Apple, plum and banana crumble tonight. So much post Xmas stuff to consume - the guests seemed not to eat enough. (i.e. 2 daughters and their other halfs. Lightweights.)

Apparently potassium and magnesium act together, so eating the bananas will complement the "chalk" tablets I'm taking. Seems to be working. They do say that the worse it tastes, the better it is for you. And we've been given a bottle of Bell's for Xmas......

Now forcing this morning's banana and custard down my throat. But have telly on following Schumi story. That puts me in my place if all I have to worry about is losing a boob and hating bananas. Do I really have anything to moan about?

Too much of a challenge to resist ... so I tried it (on toast rather than in a sandwich) this morning and it was ... pretty good. Buttered the toast first of course.

Then tried toast, peanut butter (crunchy), Marmite and banana. Tasted fine. I was amazed.

Good suggestion!

Not that I have a problem with bananas as they are but in terms of texture slicing them up and then crushing and spreading them on bread or, better, toast means the texture becomes much less relevant to the eating process. Or should do.

Have you tried dried banana slices? You can eat them as though they're crisps.

As a "crispoholic", this may well be worth a try. Thank you!

Shelagh Happy New Year to you and Bill hope you didn't have do any swimming due to recent floods. Just got home from two weeks camping on Fraser Island and wouldn't you know it hot days ahead like Saturday 41c today only 38c. Younger brother loved bread butter and banana with sugar sprinkled on top as a sandwich, personally I don't like banana's even though I live close to where they grow.

Missed my last treatment. Turned up OK, they took the bloods and did the line care so we wandered off to waste an hour waiting for results. Croissant and Tea at Greggs. Back to the unit and "Woomph". Tasted better on the way down (and I'll leave the rest to your imagination). So feeling rather delicate over the last couple of days but now more like "Shelagh" again.

What a way to start the New Year, heh? Sick bowls ahoy but not due to alcohol !!!!

As that song went: "Things can only get better" (but then again, wasn't that the Labour Party's theme?), hmm.

But I know that it is true. So Happy New Year (belatedly) because you're not escaping me yet!

Great News:

Herceptin can affect your heart "efficiency" (some sort of count) so they monitor this through regular Echoes (ultrasounds). I got called in to see the Oncologist yesterday as my last Echo showed this count had fallen.

Best way to reverse this? Stop the Herceptin. So my treatment has suddenly finished (after 12 of planned 18)!

And so my Hickman Line is no longer required, and since they don't leave them in any longer than necessary (risk of infection), the "plumbing" will be removed on 5th Feb (counting the days, I've had it since mid-May). Hurrah!

So, even though I'll now be monitored re the heart, things are looking up.

I forgot to add - I had a "haircut" (more of a tidy as one side seems to be growing back faster) on Wednesday. The first one in about 7 months and my lovely hairdresser charged me £5.00.

£5.00 on hair over 7 months - high maintenance or what!

Come on, folks. I've nearly reached 30,000 views!

If I do, I expect all of you to donate at least £1.00 to MacMillan (or similar charity depending on country).

Go For It. That collecting box in the pub/shop. They're green. And, no, I'm not employed by them.
