TheMan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Sadly my last post seems to have been wrong or maybe not. I made some calls today and it seems that Rossi and Honda have agreed that they want to continue the relationship but talks last week to confirm the money matters fell down and seems like there will be no resolution to the matter. Looks like Rossi could move to Ducati on the Satellite team and Bayliss fill his spot at Honda. If this is true then we will have a very talented Aussie on a very fast bike with a very fast team. Bring it on I say, and go Bayliss.

It's not the first time that Rossi, Honda and money have come to blows. Don't count your Ducatis before they hatch.

Certainly wil not presume that the Honda deal is over. I for one actually bleive that Rossi will stay at Honda, but being an Aussie I would love to see Bayliss in the best team on the best bike and if he does then watch out.

Bayliss won't go from Ducati.
And Rossi will sign it with Honda probally, and we get one more dull year of endless Hondas in the big class....

Rossi does have an alternative- there is a possibility that he may sign for Yamaha, who desperately need a top rider. Italian oil company Agip is said to offer $10 million to make the deal possible.
If Rossi DOES switch to Yamaha he will have his work cut out for himself to get the M1 competitive. Of course, were he to succeed, he would become even more legendary than he already is.

I don`t think so. Rossi will sign with Honda and it will be done soon. I would be more confident though of a move to Aprilia than a move to Yamaha. The Ducati deal is not over but it will be once he has signed the dotted line. Bayliss 2004 Motogp world Champion. Has a nice ring to it doesnt it.

I dont think Rossi is at that "one more seasion" stage yet.
It'll only be then that he makes the switch. But even then the idea of ruining his win to race ratio would probably put him off.
Rossi will be at Honda untill he retires.

That all depends on when he retires, If its soon then maybe but if he rides on then he won`t retire on a Honda. It will be Italian and most likely Ducati. Even the best get sick of there own records and need new challenges. Senna did it and so will Rossi.

What about the supposed thing of Rossi not wanting to race in a team with cigarette money.

Rossi has a number of options that are all as realistic as the next:

Honda are certainly at the top of the list. They are throwing bags of money at him and want him on a long-term deal. Certainly Rossi has had all his success at Honda so far, but it’s far too easy for him at the moment, and we know Rossi likes a challenge. Honda are known for wanting the best riders, but if Rossi were to keep pushing them, Honda have shown that they are willing to let top people go and replace them with cheaper, younger and more efficient staff.

Ducati would be next on the list, simply because Rossi wants to win on an Italian machine, and since the Aprilia is far from being competitive, Ducati is the only option. The only thing stopping him joining is the cigarette sponsorship, but if Ducati were to set-up a satellite squad, which they appear to be doing for 2004, then Rossi could end up there next season… but the realistic guess is 2005 at the earliest.

Finally, Yamaha have essentially put in an 11th hour bid for Rossi’s services. It’s certainly an interesting bid, with sponsors throwing millions at him, and they think Rossi is the only rider who can make the M1 competitive. But would Rossi leave a good team and help out a struggling one, ala Schumacher? I don’t see Rossi doing that.

My prediction: Rossi will remain a Honda man for 2004, but may be forced into signing a two-year deal, but he will make sure he has a get-out clause so he can join Ducati in 2005.

I for one have absolutely no problems watching perfection at work. I will continue to stay up late and watch Rossi dominate GP racing for many years to come. I can not get tired of watching him ride and win.

How could Doohan be to blame for boring racing? Also why should the future of exciting racing rest in Rossi`s hands. why should he change teams? and if he doesn`t, so what. It is not the riders fault the sport is like it is it is up to the governing body to make the racing exciting not the riders.

The news of the day is that Rossi will sign with Ducati to run as a satellite team and will not contain cigarette sponsorship. News seems to be a bit sketchy but not sure where Bayliss fits into this. I get told he is going to Honda and then staying at Ducati. Ducati have said that if they sign Rossi then one of there current riders will have to go. I dont know the timeing of this announcement but it sure seems a goer. You never know what will happen there is so much speculation but whatever happens it is sure to be good.

Bayliss & Caparosi both have a year to run on there contracts, so if Ducati need to get rid of one of them for Rossi they will be paying twice. Bayliss has said that he will end his carrer with Ducati, and vicaversa, but dont think they will quite happy to make him redundant just yet

A few months back in MCN Rossi said he is over the problem with fag money now, but i presume he meant if on a Duke.

Think they should leave Duke team as is, and get satelite with Rossi and Hodgson. But fear he's just using as leverage for more dough from Honda for next year.

If Rossi DOES announce before the end of the season that he will move to Ducati, HRC will shift support to Gibernau- he WILL be on a Honda next year, and Honde desperately want the number 1 plate on their machine. Rossi's flat refusal to ride with that "1" on his bike has annoyed many HRC top brass, and Gibernau won't have any objections at all to using it.
My guess is that if Rossi goes to Ducati, he won't announce it until he has the title in the bag.
