BTW, yep, Jos "Giovanni" Kuypers is an Italian now. By Italian passport and racing licence. JP Dayraut was grand! Hope to see him the whole 2010 ERC! |

What an event! What a weekend!
A fantastic second visit to a Belgium ERC meeting, which this year seemed to be packed out! (In no small part to Mr. Duval's appearance no doubt) We were sat/stood on the last corner and it was totally rammed which gave it a great atmosphere whenever a Belgian got out in front, or someone put on a sideways show (namely Eriksson or Holte). Great to meet up with some fellow enthusiastic Brits too, cheers chaps. |

Another trip to Belguim and well worth it!
Hope this one stays on the calender for 2010 superb action the Finals were the best i have seen in a long time.. Biggest crowd I have seen there in 10 years Great weather top entry made all the better by the triple D's Dueuz was brilliant Dayrut was cool and smooth Duval was awesome! not keen on drivers coming in and performing well straight away from other sports makes the regulars look a bit naff! but I think all these guys were exceptional just hope some decide to stay! Kuypers for me had the drive of the day yes he had a little luck but he also showed class in the end to get fantastic result maybe this might be the kick up the arse he needed as he was falling way back in to the depths of just being there and not contending. Coox Impressed did well with pressure from Ljidnfell in the finals,Pauwels must be gutted he got the wrong focus and Mertens well what a plonker still chuckle now made my day and some of his compatriots where embarrased to say the least, too top it off the awful colt won the final Great event! Kev drove great finals and Liam done well considering the Problems he was having! |

I actually couldnt stop laughing at Mertens. I took to pointing too. Then realised he was Belgian and I was surrounded by Belgians....!
I thought both Godfrey and Procter did well to progress. The competition was fierce. In Div 1, I think that 25 of those cars could win a BRC Superfinal (obv some with more ease than others), so to get into the points shows how quick Kev is! Div 1A was very competitive too, and Jules (more of a racer's name than Julian) was really looking to get to grips with the track as the heats progressed. Shame that Liam couldnt get into a final though. I think he had the pace, he was just either busy tripping himself up or getting tommohawked by some Wild driver (possibly the biggest laugh of the weekend was when Helmut drove off the bank at the left hander during yet another attempt to shunt his way to 1st; karma!) Looking forward to going next year! |

Weird moment of the day, found a nice shady spot behind Lindefjell's transporter for a nap during the long lunch only to get awakened after 10 mins by Norwegian karaoke party, Johnny Cash Ring of Fire blasting out, got to love the guy, all other teams are looking over there cars before the finals while Guttorms got a party on the go. |

[QUOTE=Barrie;2519688]Yeah top day, good to meet the BOY BLUNDER, rallycross mad like us all, Tonys(schanche) driving spot on again, got there just in time for practice as always. Would have been nice of you guys to tell me how dirty my face was after Eriksson had covered us in shail, didn t notice till I looked in the mirror when I got home.
We thought you had the dirty face when u came down! new Ipswich Town supporters war paint. Also Barrie we could of got there earlier but Boy Blunder kept stopping us to form up to the Lines then waving us off Once was funny! but on to the eurotunnel then of off it, at the junctions and into the circuit was a bit much |

I enjoyed my first trip over to Belgium, absolutely awesome. Was very strange walking thru the paddock in another country, to here your name being shouted, to see Boy Blunder walking towards me. Absolutely loved the whole experience. Thanks to Phil Chicken and Big Ted for helping share the expense of getting there. Would definately go again in a heartbeat.
The chance of going there again, may be a little out of reach expense wise normally, but it definately outweighed all the soggy wet days stood trackside, marshalling and generally volunteering at british rounds. Thanks to everyone for the lovely welcome, especially from the British/Irish guys. Not to mention food heaven - Chips and Mayo!!! Mmmm |

Only "chips red and white" (with ketchup and mayo) is the proper way to go for. And for the true specialists with shred onions of course.

Just a question to all you folks who travelled to Belguim at the weekend?
Any Newbies who made the trip what was there oppinion on the joker Lap did it work for you! Was it better than Lydden's. Would they like to see it moved at Lydden to somewhere more suitable any Ideas? |

I would say that the one in Belgium worked very well. But I think it is due to the track layout; tight and twisty, not many straights. So, even after a car took the joker and were two seconds down, they never appeared that far back. At Lydden, two seconds down the Dover Slope @ 100mph looks like a big gap, and gives the illusion of spread out, dull races. (as an aside, Lydden is too big for 5 cars). Though having the joker after the first two corners, and therefore forcing all 5 cars to take those corners, makes for a much better spectacle; so maybe changing the location of the joker would help.
