Aahh... we're really getting somewhere, here. Very good!
However, I'd still like to change a few parts of our track: I'd still tighten the first corner to improve overtaking. I'd like the run towards the second hairpin-like turn to be a bit more straight, but OK, I'll leave that to you guys. And the run towards the hairpin/Karrusel in the centre as it is now, is terrible for overtaking into the hairpin. That run needs to be a longer straight. |

Ah please Lustig, you just removed the entire esses-section .
However, i agree with your chances to T1, and i also agree that the track still lacks some overtaking spots. I could see T4 (bottom right corner) tightened, or alternatively the multiple-apex in the bottom left corner removed, and made into something like the Lesmo's at Monza - however, i sense the multiple-apex is fairly popular. |

The problem with the esses is that they seriously break up the run towards the hairpin. I guess we'll have to choose between a good run through the esses or a good overtaking opportunity at the hairpin. We can't have both, I'm afraid.

see my version ... i have a nice flowing esses section before the hairpin which would bunch the pack up for slip-streaming through the following straight (edits to corners in between may be needed)
do what u wish |

I'd say keep the esses, which are a nice part of the track, and enhance overtaking elsewhere - either at T4 or at the multiple-apex which i don't see as fantastic as many do. |

Right, CG. I'll see if I can make something of it. Just a minute...

I'd like to ask Pirenzo to make a detailed version of the track, if we're all happy with the result. And maybe Alwaysfirst en/of TR could make a list with corner numbers and the names of the designers who should come up with names for their corners. And would we like to have a certain theme with this track or just make something up?
By the way, how far are we on the number of posts? |

This is post number 9915.
I'll give the graphics a go if someone could post a final pic of the layout and its minor circuit links too. |

Just a couple of alterations;
1) Slightly tighten the first lesmo, and slightly loosen the second. 2) Slightly loosen the central hairpin. Regarding corner and track naming, what should the theme be this time around? My proposal would be: F1 teams no longer in existance (ie. Brabham, Jordan, Tyrrell etc.) |

That's a nice theme, TR. You have my vote.
About the changes: I can live with those, too. |

Lesmos? Where? Unless you're talking about turns 5 + 6, which look like 2nd gear corners to me...

Well, aren't the current Lesmos at Monza 2nd gear?

Nope...
According to formula1.com Lesmo 1 is 164km/h, 3rd gear and Lesmo 2 is 158km/h in 3rd gear also. Variante Della Roggia is 2nd gear... Whatever though, I'll make the changes for the final thing. |

OK. Looking forward to it.
I wonder how quick the old Lesmos were. |

About 130mph (200km/h) I should think.

i like the 'lesmo' i dea and i agree with TR with changes ...
i dont wish to sound like a miserable git but ... im not happy with the corkscrew entrance kink i would much rather it be flush with the straight ... I would also like to open up the turn after the hairpin oh and fianlly the final corner needs to change as its currently not flat out imo ... i will do an edit later tonight ... theme = great idea pienzo = have a bash |

I know this is late in the game (busy with family and all here), but having that really angled first turn, then the short straight, and then the bend before the hairpin just seems out of place given the rest of the circuit. Having that 90 degree or so corner that is immediately followed by that longer bend before the straight into the hairpin seems to fit better. You would still have a relatively slow first turn (passing opportunity retained), and possibly give an opportunity to duck inside of someone into the following hairpin given the longer straight that you would then have there.
I'll go along with the proposed theme for naming the corners. |
