The SpeedSkating Network
First race of the year, and TSN is at it already. Although they plan to broadcast the race live, they've opted to show speed skating instead of the pre-race. Now, I'd have no problem with that, but they've got Speed blacked out. Why are they blacking out a portion of the program that TSN doesn't plan to air in the first place? Because they're a bunch of tools, that's why.

Yeah, I was actually glad to see the speed skating, great run by Cindy Klassen, winning the gold in the women's all round World Championship. She was also on the podium in the sprints, which is pretty much unheard of.
I have a problem with TSN when they chose to show things like chearleading competitions, but Speed Skating's pretty big in Canada, and as a sportsnetwork TSN has multiple obligations to fullfil. And I think they do a pretty good job here. And would you rather watch the race tape-delayed and in highlight form like most of the world? Yeah, Cheers to TSN! |

I was kinda setting myself up, wasn't I Jay? I almost started my post with "I know Jay's gonna disagree with me but..."!
My problem is blacking out the prerace on Speed when TSN's not showing it anyway. That's bogus. |

I can understand your frustration with TSN...but when they're showing the race live, I can't really complain. I don't know why Speed had to blackout the prerace though...maybe it's just easier that way for them.

We should all email TSN and thank them for broadcasting the race live. If PT can get some better setups he can fight for the championship with Bourdais. That'll make Molstar very happy, Canadians will watch and hopefully increase the number of live CART races on TSN.

I watched the encore performance on Speed at 9 and actually it looks as if we got the whole broadcast. However, I am going to write them to object to that really cheezy video they showed at the beginning. Although the drivers did look cute, most of them. I can't imagine Pook enjoys being referred to as "Starring Chris Pook as the Pookster."
Did anyone tune into Cart.com's broadcast about 15 minutes before race time? They very obviously didn't know they were on the air, and it was hilarious! |
