hehe, way to play it safe man, I guess it'll come down to the speeds then and the very few things we picked differently.

Actually, Drdisque, it is a big gamble....
You've been kicking my butt on being closest to the speeds for most of the season.... My picks are very similar to my Kentucky Picks, which got me 30 pts. At Sonoma, Kanaan pulling in for fuel on the last lap cost me 2 pts. as well...he was racing in the spot where I piced him when he pulled in... But I must say that you have been a very strong and worthy competitor all season long, and your picks have been excellent...Pole Day at Indy...the three road courses, etc... The past two years, I had the contest wrapped up before Chicagoland... I have serious doubts about whether or not I can make it 3 in a row for the contest championship.... Like the IRL, we're going right to the wire, and it has been great fun... Good Luck to everyone this weekend!!! Especially for you, drdisque, but I don't think that you will need it...you have shown great skill in your picks this year, and you deserve a good showing this weekend to close out the contest strong. |

Tim & Dr. Disque had 7 pts. each, Marcus & alwaysFirst had 6 pts., and Flavinha and Drewdawg had 5 each. Flavinha, DrDisque, & Tim all had Roth as the slowest qualifier for 2 pts. each. Tim was closest to the slow speed: Actual - 209.713 Tim - 210.291 Flavinha and Tim both had the "Just Miss" pick with Scheckter for 2 pts. each Totals after Qualifying: 1. Tim - 15 pts. 2. Sorry that I didn't post these sooner, but I had to work yesterday.
Drewdawg, Alwaysfirst, Marcus & Flavinha all picked Wheldon to win for 2 pts. each In the Top Five section, AlwaysFirst and Flavinha had 5 pts each, Tim had 3 pts., and everyone else had 4 pts each. No one had Sam Hornish for the Fast Lap driver Alwaysfirst was closest to the speed: Actual - 216.713 AF- 215.518 in the Milestones section, Drewdawg, Flavinha and marcus had 4 pts each with Alwaysfirst, DrDisque and Tim getting 2 pts each. Since no one went out of the race, there was no "1st Out" winner of points. No one had Kanaan or Carpenter of the "Movers" (both improved 7 spots) Flavinha and Alwaysfirst both scored 2 pts for picking Rice (he dropped 4 spots), and I would have counted Sharp or Marco as well. Flavinha was closest to the Avg. Race Speed: Actual - 194.828 Flavinha - 195.826 Resuts for this final race: 1. Flavinha - 26 pts. 2. Alwaysfirst - 21 pts. 3. Tim - 20 pts. 4. Marcus - 18 pts. 5. Dr.Disque - 17 pts. 6. Drewdawg - 15 pts. I had a lot of fun this year, everyone....Please come back next year for the contest. |

A Few Notes:
1. DrDisque won the most race contest events with 8: St. Pete, Indy Qualifying, Watkins Glen, Texas, Richmond, Milwaukee, Michigan, and Sonoma Tim won 5: Homestead, Indy, Nashville, Kansas and Kentucky AlwaysFrist won at Motegi and Flavinha won at Chicago If DrDisque and I would have tied at the end of the season, he would have won the contest. 2. Like Dan Wheldon, Flavinha's season could have been much bigger if Dan and his team wouldn't have let some races get away from them, or in some cases, just would have avoided bad luck. 3.The changes this year with one engine builder and ultimately one chassis on the ovals took away some options to earn points, but in someways made it a little more interesting by giving the chance to think about the back of the field, the spread in spead between the pole and last place on the grid, and who would just miss getting in the top three rows..... If you have any ideas for different selections we could make instead of some that we do make, please share them.... |

I think i did decently regarding the fact that i missed five races this season while i was galavanting around Europe (will probably miss the same amount the next two years when i take my final two trips).
I liked the new choices such as the slowest qualifier and the "just miss". More of those random spots should be choices...people in the midpack tend to be shaken up more, so it gives more of a random shot for people to earn extra points. I look forward to competing every week...thanks Tim for this fun activity! |

One Note:
In many of the events I finished in the Top Three.... Consistency is important.... But the three races that kept me in the chase (and I was chasing DrDisque after Indy 500 Qualifying) were at Homestead and Kansas, where I had at least 10 or more points between my totals and DrDisque's totals for those events...big points at Kentucky finally put me back in the lead Without those spreads, he would have won this season with his consistency...especially in the middle of the season and on the road courses Last edited by Tim Northcutt; 14 Sep 2006 at 20:22. |
