Oulton Park Taster Day 15/08.
A few thanks following my first time on the interesting side of the fencing at yesterday's taster day.
Thanks to Nadine for arranging it. To Simon and Paul at Druids for putting up with me, and to Simon for the loan of gloves and hat (I must remember that bringing them is no good if I leave them in the car). To the marshal I spoke to in the queue at breakfast and again at lunch for showing me that the moaners are a small but vocal minority. To the rest of the marshals for making us welcome and answering stupid questions. And finally to the Boxster driver for timing his crash perfectly, as those of us on the walkabout were stood looking straight at the impact point, just as Nadine was explaining Red flags to us. |

Really pleased you enjoyed your taster day. The walkabouts are great aren't they and seems like you had front row seats for the Porsche incident and got to see how something like that is dealt with from the trackside.
One thing you will hear time and time again on hear and at the circuit is; "There's no such thing as a daft question!". So, ask away and you'll always get a reply. Notice how I didn't say you wouldn't get a daft answer If you've already decided to join the gang. Welcome!! You won't regret it. |

That's because you only give daft answers like me |

Welcome to the orange brigade
HI Martin
Wlecome to the Orange (and other colours) brigade and the friendly bunch that the Oulton Park team are usually Glad you enjoyed your walk about and the first day on the "right" side of the fence. It sounds as if Nadine managed to have an incident happen where she was again, I remember a car spinning at Knickerbrook on my walk about a few years ago, If you were in the group talking to Nadine at the end of the day it was me waiting with Matthew to speak to Nadine, so hopefuly will see you around and as Elliot says the only daft question is the one you dont ask so if you get to work with me feel feel to pick up my knowledge, All of the team are more than willing to answer and pass on what they have picked up, it's a great world and you get a close up view of wahts happening |

Welcome to the gang and I believe that a certain Formula Ford driver managed to put his car in the gravel whilst you were watching.

Thanks for the warm welcome here too.
I didn't hang around long after the racing finished as I was completely shattered. For my sins, my BMMC and MSA forms have gone in the post this afternoon, so I guess I either really enjoyed the day or I'm still suffering from sun stroke. |

I will pay the Porsche driver later...............it's always helpful to be able to talk through an actual incident but wasn't quite expecting one like that! TerryD - all Nadlings are encouraged to try different areas of marshalling after a few meetings on the bank at least. Anyway there were loads of you on Saturday sat around doing nothing in the afternoon from where I was standing!! |
