I was saddened to hear of the passing of Larry Rice

He would be known to alot of Indycar fans for his commentary on the ESPN International feed for the IRL from 2002-2008, and prior to that was a very successful driver in his own right, and also the co-rookie of the year at Indy in 1978

He also broadcasted the Thunder racing show in the late '80s and early '90s. I think that's what most Americans would recognize him for. Such a great show that is entirely underrated today. That show had fans everywhere. And Rice, Gary Lee, and then pit reporter Dave Despain did a great job with it.

I didnt see much if any of Larry racing but know him from the ESPN International coverage , seemed like a very fine gentlemen.

And amazingly the linked article above was simply one of the best things Robin Miller has ever written and gave you a good insight to Larry.

My condolences go out to his family and friends.

What i found amazing was Miller's article broke the news of Larry Rice's passing, atleast in my case as I hadnt seen any other motorsport sites report on the news.

Enjoyed his calls on ESPN and hard to believe he went so soon
