Knockhill Lotus Sport race on Chnl 4.
G'day all, I missed ya up in the Scottish highlands.
Was an OK result. The best way to explain it is: If you don't try, you don't get! I was going for second place and Fullalove left a gap, so I went for it, he didn't see me and he just kept turning until we hit. He kept in second and I finished fourth. Anyway, you guys see for yourselves. It's on TV at the usual insomniac time of night. Coverage from Round Seven of the Autobytel Lotus Championship at Knockhill in Scotland will be televised on Channel 4's 'Chequered Flag' motorsport programme on Monday 30th July. Check TV listings for exact transmission time, but it will be sometime after midnight on Sunday 29th July. So, don't forget to set your video recorders Sunday night! YES THAT'S SUNDAY NIGHT :-) Catch ya all at Snetterton next week. I look forward to seeing the iluminescent kangaroo. |

That was one heckofa race.
I enjoyed every minute of it and you are right - you have to try sometimes! So the headlights are on again as you head into the Norfolk darkness. Do you have to do anything different when night racing than in the daytime? (apart from switch the lights on!) and you didn't miss me - and I was most impressed you remembered my name! |

Glad you enjoyed the race Les, we always try to put on a good show for ya all :-)
How could I forget your name, you are the die hard of all motorsport fans. To go up to Knockhill is true dedication. You are to be commended. I'm sure I'll see you at Snetterton next week also.......and the rest of you 10 10ths people? To answer your darkness question Les. Not a lot changes for us racing in the dark. Make sure the lights are clean, aimed in the right area and switch them on! Last year I did have an internal low intensity red light in the cockpit to help with the light to dark areas. It helps the retina adjust quicker to the contrasts of light and dark when you travel through the floodlit areas and then into the dark areas and vice versa. We can't put high intensity bulbs or anything like the touring car boys can. Obviously, it's harder to judge where other cars are behind you because all you see is light glare in the mirrors. Judging distances is harder also ie: Brake points and corner entry speeds. It's great fun though. I loved the dark at Silverstone and although I havent raced at Snet in the dark, I expect it to be simalar. Lets hope the rain stays away this time?!! Catch ya later. |

Just got my TV guide and it says Chequered Flag is on at 5am to 5:55am, but check your local press anyways. I'll probably be awake at that time thanks to my noisy neighbour above with the creaky floorboards!!
Still no luck with the inflatabla kanga, boohoo! |

You say 'point the lights in the right area' - do you point them both outwards due to left and right corners, or both one side or straight?
I have a terrible confession to make though - I get far more enjoyment out of the 'support' races than I do the BTCT. I want to grab people who get up as soon as the sprint race has finished as say - hang on that was just the warm up for the good stuff!! And as for the Elise - if I won the lottery one of those would be on the shopping list. The championship looks as if it will be really tight and hopefully (for me!) go to the last race - brilliant stuff. Last edited by Les; 28 Jul 2001 at 12:57. |

Minardi fan, do you not posses what we call a VHS video cassette recroder? What a blow to your televised viewing pleasure.
haha :-D I'm sure somebody will lend you a copy of it or try and catch it on Sky Sports sometime? Yep, catch ya at Snetterton. Should be a good night......hopefully a warm night?? Your question Les. You just make sure the lights are facing forwards and not into the air or something? A lot of races since Silverstone night race have passed and a fair bit of curbing and other cars have come in contact with our cars. So things can move around in that time. We did get reflective sponsor logos but they don't really work. When a photographer takes a pic the flash just makes the text un readable, just a big glow. So we won't bother for Snetterton. Right, off to the gym now, catch ya soon |

The remote control is bust so we can't use the timer, and I couldn't be arsed at 2.30am to get my video player from upstairs, tune it in, AND set the timer. Zzzzzzzzzzzz.
