Brands Hatch post changes 2007/2008
One of our local photographers has chronicled the changes to the marshals' posts over the winter break at Brands Hatch
Go to http://jeremyroberts.fotopic.net/c1440664.html and see what has changed at posts 4,7 and 23 over the last couple of months. I particularly like the state of post 23 as he caught it on January 13th. thanks JR |

I'm there tomorrow so I'll try and get some idea of how it works now. I hope that there's still room to get between catch fence and barrier as thats a lovely angle if it's now gone.

I presume you're talking about the area around the new snatch vehicle refuge at 23 JB?

Went along today and post 4 seems a little too far back to be effective as a flag point, be interested to get a drivers view on it once they start racing again. New huts as per post 3 at 4,5,7 and 8. Didnt venture too far round the other end as there are very little photo opportunities.

Novice - any glazing in post 3's hut? that was the major thing we got wrong.
As for 4 as a flag point - well, certainly the Observer's hut seems to be in the wrong position, but since we seem to be copying certain aspects of Silverstone's operations - how long will it be before we run with flag points remote from the actual post? Did'nt realise 8 was revamped with one of these big new boxes too. Hope they've put a bit more space around it. |

Thank goodness for that, I still found some glass in my bag a while ago.
Not that is was my fault the window broke. |

I take it from the above, that means my favourite post still has it's extremely waterproof, no door and open to all the elements of the Brands weather system type hut.................... |

Have only just seen these pics - hate to be negative but looks like Post 4 is totally ruined and I have to agree with Bodysnatcher - it appears to me that Obs box is totally in the wrong place - although I'm hoping just the angle. I also don't see Nigel's plaque on the hut and as usual no consideration for marshals as to where safety fencing needs to be - just plonked in front of box - even if box somewhere in right place - can't see Observer will be able to see round fence to see any incidents anyway
I can't quite work out Post 23 - from high mud and low barrier - am waiting for first car to go over the top but then next picture again seems to show a 10ft high fence around it with the Obs box about 5 foot behind fence with no view - Good luck Dave!! |

I belive it has been stated before, but I don't think the circuit has a lot of say on safety fences, The MSA chappy comes round and he is pretty autonomous in his desicsion as to where they should go.
Certainly this is what I have been led to believe. As for Scotty's plaque I surely they would have put that back, maybe someone who marshalled the Bikes can tell us if it is there. From the pics I am sceptical, but will reserve judgement until I marshal the post or see an incident that would have been huge with the old set up. Changes happen we just need to make the best, and suggest way of improving the improvements if required. Most of all carry on enjoying the motorsport. |

I didn't see a plague on Post 4 and I sheltered from the weather in there for 10 minutes. Didn't study the outside though but can't recall seeing anything
