Channel Islands 2009

I'm pondering visiting the Channel Islands in 2009 for the British Hillclimb Championship at Bouley Bay and Le Val Des Terres, to marshal.

Can anyone give me some pointers on who to contact or of experiences they may have had themselves.

Have they built a tunnel to the Islands yet, as I wont fly and I get sea sick

Mudge is a pretty good contact...

Considering it ourselves, actually. We nearly did it this year but Jan couldn't get the holiday.

Talking to people at the weekend, I understand it would be difficult to travel from Guernsey to Jersey and return on the same day as the hillclimb, so that would mean finding accomodation on Jersey for a couple of nights. Mudge has very kindly offered hotel facilities so I may persue that one

I would like to make contact with someone regarding marshalling in the Channel Islands, otherwise might just turn up as a tourist and watch

Just turn up! Damn sure they were asking anyone over the P.A to be a marshal, especially in Guernsey.

If you turn up with your ornages on in both states they will be very grateful to you for turning up... Jersey you will almost certainly be a fire marshall because you have the right kit on... Guernsey... anyones guess xxx
Jersey you need to go over the night before and then we get the boat over to Guernsey on the Thursday evening for the hill climb on the Saturday xxx

So it looks like the main land contenders will be mudge and me. Difficult call.

Whilst on this subject, have you heard the rumours, I have a part in the Full Monty running at the Swan Theatre in Worcester this week. Dont tell anyone.

By 'it' I assume you mean the performance. I also know precisely what Tim's role is in this production, and if he does have his bits out then Channel Islands won't be far enough away from the repercussions!

Interesting to see Mudge described as a 'mainlander'. Only by accident of geography. He clearly left the other two heads at his parents house...
