Ian Byrne has a lot of late 80's rallycross footage from Mondello. He should be able to fill in some of the blanks.

Some German nit-picking: John Moloney, not Maloney. For 1985, could it be Colin Richards rather than Colm? And according to my friend/colleague Ian Lynas it is Denis Biggerstaff, not Dennis.

Some info from my files:

1996 Lloyd Spendlove (IRL) Peugeot 205 GTi 1900 16V
1995 Helmut Holfeld (IRL) Ford Escort RS Cosworth (GpA)
1994 Dermot Carnegie (IRL)
1993 Dermot Carnegie (IRL)
1992 Denis Biggerstaff (GB) MG Metro 6R4
1991 Dermot Carnegie (IRL) MG Metro 6R4
1990 John Moloney (IRL) MG Metro 6R4
1989 John Moloney (IRL) MG Metro 6R4
1988 Kenny McKinstry (GB) Ford Escort Mk3 RWD
1987 Kenny McKinstry (GB) Ford Escort RS1800
1986 Fred Crawford (GB) Ford Escort RS1800
1985 Colin Richards (GB) Porsche 911 SC ?
1984 Con Carey (GB)
1983 Con Carey (GB)
1982 Colin Howard (GB) Ford Escort RS1800

BTW, in my friend Bill Mantovani’s book "Drive it! – The complete book of Rallycross" page 114 reads: "[…] the latter [Colin Howard] being the 1983 STP Mondello champion." Therefore the question is, was Howard Irish RX champion in 1982 or rather 1983 and was there already a 1982 championship?

that was the year the championship changed to a winter championship, so there will be lots of hazy memories even though it was only a year or two ago

the 2007 championship and the 07/08 winter series ran side by side at the end of 2007 so there was a 2007 champion (derrick jobb - ford escort) and then an 07/08 winter series champion (dermot carnegie - ford fiesta). The winter series is now the format in which the championship has continued.
