snowen250 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
SEMSEC Lydden August 9th

Hello all
Wasn’t a thread for this great meeting so thought i should start one up.

Great races all round (well, except for the single seaters, they shant be mentioned again)

The Kit Cars/Sports cars races were all brilliant. Even the Radical ones. Seriously! Close action, clean racing (the gravel traps remained untouched!) With places being swapped all over the place. It would have been nice to see Mark Burton and his Jade but it appeared to break off the line in race 1 and wasn’t seen again. However this did allow some great battles for the lead to develop with Peter Ware in his Radical Prosport coming out on top. I think the winner of the lower class Caterham dominated races was Merrick Linnett, but as there were about 5 yellow Caterhams and I don’t remember the winning cars number i could be wrong.....

The saloon races were though the highlight with a great field of cars, varied as ever. From Steve Weatherley and his Saph Cossie to the little Ginetta G12 of Cliff Fin. Both of whom along with Nigel Craig in his Escort pushed eventual double winner Sir Bill of Richards very hard in the debut of his great looking - re engined - Cosworth Metro. The first win was especially impressive considering he selected reverse off the line..... But it was a great debut by a car im sure we will see more of. It certainly looks the part.

Other great battles throughout the field ensued in both races with Kieron Lehane unfortunately suffering problems in both races as he began to move up through the field. The two ladies in the field also had great races with Gemma Morris driving a very clean and tidy race and Mary Grinham swapping places with Tony Skelton.

All in all it was a great meeting and well worth the entry fee, some criticism has been levelled at Lydden recently but I couldn’t fault them at all today a great meeting.

Jon from Snappy Racers was also there so hopefully he will come along and link us to some pics. We were also treated to a Flypast, by a Belgian navy Sea King. Different.

Well done to all for a great days close and clean racing. And congratulations to the winners, the guy in the black Jedi, Merrick Linnett (I think) Peter Ware, Scott Makin, Charles Harvey Kelly (a red Radical, im sure it was him) and of course Bill Richards.

Robert Morris has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!

well said , just a few extra comments.
You did forget to mention Mrs Joe Craig who was driving her white fiesta in the saloons, a special mention must go to Mary Grinham for having a passing move at Bill as she came out of the hairpin.( never heard a 8 port rev so high)

Nice photos Green Saxo and cheers for the info regarding the Sea King.

Next Semsec meet is at Brands, September 12th hopefully the racing will be as good then, with perhaps some more entries also.
