Hello there,

I am thinking about competing in a low budget motorsport
such as minicross, can anybody give me any information
about clubs, starting up etc. I cannot find any information anywhere!!
Thanks in advance,

Hi Adam, welcome to Ten-tenths.
Have you had a peek in our links directory? There could well be some useful links for you in there?

Adam, I think the the club/organisers/governing body is called something like the Minicross Drivers Association. MiniWorld magazine has in the past done articles on preparing cars for Minicross, it might be worth phoning their back-issues dept and asking for a copy.

I've not looked at MiniWorld for a while, but they always used to have the results and a write up of each event (as they were the sponsors) and I think they gave contact info.

Hi Adam,

I believe everything you need to know about minicross can be found at: www.minicross.com. My dad raced a minicrosser back in the 80's when they used to support the rally cross at Brands Hatch and it was always great fun, very competitive and friendly. I don't really know what it's like now but I shouldn't imagine it's changed too much (although I think they use 1275s now whereas I think they used 850s in the past).

Like most mini series you'll find a mix of new drivers who have never raced anything before and old timers who liked it so much they saw no reason to move on. As Guy says MiniWorld magazine supports the series and they have their own page each month for race reports.

You can hire a minicrosser for the day if you want a feel for what you may be letting yourself in for. Good Luck

Hi Adam
I started in Minicross back in 87 and have since progressed t circuit racing. Yep it's cheap, very, do a mixture of rallycross support and grass track events. 1275 std engines. Other rallycross formulae you may consider are Stock Hatch Rallycross, great value for money, or your local grass track racing club, non MSA controlled and v. v. cheap.
If you want to do circuit racing consider mighty minis, cheap (by circuit standards) and bullet proof, or maybe one of the 750 m/c formulae.
