The_Viper should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Trucks at Brands Hatch 30th Oct/1st Nov

I'm down for doing this one. Has anyone heard anything about the "Vicars and Tarts" theme for the party on Saturday night in the Kentagon? Would like to know what "attire" I have to bring with me besides the usual orange!! Also, where will the marshals be camping? (That's as in tents, not dressing up!)

Would you care to elaborate on that, cos on the face of it it doens`t make an awful lot of sense.

I know the tickets have not been sent yet, but will anyone have a spare that I would be able to have? I am willing to offer a pint at the Kentagon as a reward as I will be camping.

Well, one of the presenters of Blue Peter, Andy is doing something with trucks {blame my 9 year old nephew for knowing that}, So maybe our Haystacks watches too?

Big secret challenge, all to be revealed soon...

I'm no expert, but I'm guessing you'd need to dress as either a vicar or a tart.

After some mild interrogational activities at Brands this morning I have discovered that Andy Akinwolere (a Blue Peter presenter) has recently passed his ARDS test and has been doing a few trackdays (including todays in one of the old Megane Race School cars). I am told that there may be a closed test sometime soon where he will try out a truck, before seemingly racing the thing at this meeting.

Would be interested to know who is actually entering the vehicle (I am assuming BBC have not bought a pukka Race Truck and are prepping it themselves). I assume it is someone who has decided to give the meet a miss and make their truck available to be entered under the Blue Peter "banner".

All sounds like a recipe for complete disaster to me!!! Maybe thats why the poster which I noticed for the Trucks on the outside wall of the Kentagon this morning has the title "Wrecking Machines" on it. Personally I thought it a little in bad taste, but I can kinda see the logic to it now!!

(In the guys defence though, he did seem to be lapping with a decent amount of pace this morning).

How is he going to get hold of the correct licence to race Trucks? Unless he already has a normal road-going HGV licence, he needs to have minimum of National A licence and have completed a recognised Truck driving course! If he has only just got his Nat B licence, this ain't going to happen because there aren't enough race meetings between now and this event to get the necessary signatures

This all makes it sound rather easy to be honest!!.......

http://www.britishtruckracing.co.uk/...id=13&elm=sub2

(almost tempted to have a go myself!).

I remember there was a guy at either this Springs meeting at Brands, or last Autumns, in the B class, and he was a complete novice to it all and didn`t do so bad.

The above, and this bit below (though 2007) implies you only need National B surely??...... Infact, it doesn`t even seem to say "A" OR "B", just "Truck".... (which fits in with the bit on the btra website saying you just need to do the ARDS and fill out forms and medical and what-have-you)....
