Non winners

Have been bored at work thiking about the best rider in any class nver to win a GP! Has to be a rider who ran for at leasta season, not just one off riders and people like haga who was never bothered with GP anyway!

Mirko Giansanti.
Shinichi Itoh, should have won a Suzuka at least!
Scott Russell
Niall Mackenzie
Mike Baldwin?
Randy de Puniet
John Hopkins
Ron Haslam

I dont think Chandler did win, got a few podiums on Cagiva and Suzuki!

As for Olive I think he did win one, perhaps! But who cares, if he wasnt Spanish would have only ridden for two years!!

Colin Edwards? More of a superbike guy, but it's too bad he didn't win at least one GP.

Heh yeah I have to agree. A couple more , probably seen through German glasses :
Jürgen Fuchs
Sandro Cortese
Jonas Folger

And Tetsuya Harada, if you see his 500 GP achievements only
Scott Redding

Fuchs had his chance in 96 as Ralfs team mate really.

To me Folger is a do or die racer, who unfortunately dies too often at the moment. But I hope that this is due to his youth really.

I almost forgot about Reddings one GP win, you are right I have to admit.

When I saw the topic first, little Bradl came to mind, too but he has won already either.

What about 'Mr. Superbike' Peter Rubatto ?

Blimey now you are talking about guys I dont know much about! I know he ran the UGT team that Manako and Sakata rode for!

But can't recall if he was any god.

I always remeber Jurgen vd Goorberg as someone who could have won on the right bike.

Did torrontegui win an 80cc race? I presume he did? Wakai never won in 125 did he before he sadly died and Nakajyo should have won won at Suauka at least, he knew his way round there perfectly in the snow!

One more... Debbia in 125? Did he win? Pettrucciani? Suter? Preining? All good handy pilots/ Jeandat? Bayle of course!!

Well, Peter Rubatto was a splendid road racer who won Macau once even. Other than that he rode the international superbike series before the world superbike world championship came up. And he is still either team boss or mechanic currently associated with the MZ project, but I am not fully sure there. On a side note, Peters daughter Jasmin is (or was) the fiancee/wife to Audi DTM pilot Timo Scheider. But don`t take my word for it, i am not that up to date with latest gossip

I don't know much about japanese riders though. Steve Plater comes to mind in his World Endurance efforts so far

Iwould say in Hopkins defence that noone else really got that Suzuki going too well before or since.

He was unlucky at Kawasaki really, when he moved was about the time the huge Japanese crash happend and people like them, Suzuki, and Subaru dropped everything in motorsport, even Honda and Toyota.

I think he is a taent but was very unlucky with injury and also just being in teh wrong place at times. He was usually quicker than Kenny Jr on the Suzuki and he was a worthy world champ, so fopr me he is about the same level as Hayden, Dovi and Edwards, good enough to be in GP but not an alien!

He was staggeringly good on the brakes though, bit like Schwantz, and that is a huge weapon, ask Kevin, Martinez, Alzamora and Garriga
