I've a couple of pairs of the el cheapo Toolstation red gloves.
On the premise that if they're that cheap I don't have to worry about throwing them down or losing them in an emergency, and after a day like last Sunday at Thruxton they soon fade in the wet. They also get pretty black patches where I climb over the tyres at Combe so I haven't worried about them being red as they aren't now! |

Black welders gloves here -
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WELDING-GAUNTLET-GLOVE-LINED-LEATHER-BLACK-13-INCH-NEW-/290530122731?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43a4f1dbeb I have a pair of these and they seem ok but personally I find welders gloves far too thick and inflexible for anything apart from pushing cars. Defeats the object of wearing gloves if I need to take them off to do anything like pull a pin on a fire extinguisher or connect a tow hook up to a towing eye. At the other extreme, how about these http://www.nimbusmotorsport.com/Prod...=606&CATID=266 I am very tempted but can I really justify spending that much on a pair of gloves? There is a huge choice, you could try local workwear places such as Arco, Screwfix or B&Q. |

think I might have to get a pair that allow a bit more movement like the mechanics have. |

Again it's another of each to their own choice, and depending upon duty,
I have welders gauntlets bought from B&Q when i first started but hardly worn as i find it difficult to manipulate anything when wearing them so tend to end up taking them off to attach tow strops etc, these are now in the box as spares thet get lent to new marshals without any gloves I now tend to wear a pair of cheaper extrication gloves bought from an auction site most of the time but again havign spent a weeknd doing startling for a sprint where i wore a pair of leather faced work gloves which are now very 2nd hand Principally gloves are there to protect the hands from heat, cuts and sharp bits if pushing so whatever worn needs to be comfortable and offer some heat resitance |

After Mallory last week, I'm looking for a pair of waterproof, heat resistant work gloves. Any ideas? Latex gloves inside my normal leather ones stoped my hands from disolving but they still got very cold.

got my recent ones from here, but prices better elsewhere
http://www.eliteindustrial.co.uk/sit...at=258&sec=265 TIG are great for light protection - tend to use them for flagging and bikes, but they transmit heat through to the hand very quickly - try gripping a central heating radiator or uninsulated kettle (with care!) to find out. Some cold related clobber here http://www.eliteindustrial.co.uk/sit...at=258&sec=273 but then they may not be so good on hot exhausts, tyres etc? |

I've got these ones: http://www.glovesonhand.co.uk/wa/1/4...ork-Glove.html
not waterproof but they come in a range of sizes, regular gauntlets are large enough to fall straight off my small hands, and I have been able to pull the pin from an extinguisher & also hook up a live snatch without having to take them off. |
