MG/LIVE - Silverstone -24/25/26th. June

All the passes and sign-on instructions have now been mailed out, and some of you will probably have received them by now.

Unfortunately in the letter it mentions that a 'Car Pass' has been enclosed with the tickets.
To save you a phone call to either the Club HQ or to Paul, (MGCC Chief Marshal), to say yours is missing, I would like to let know that Officials/Marshals 'Car Passes' have not been issued this year and you will not require one. Showing your Circuit entry pass, will be accepted by the security staff manning the Public restricted areas if you are questioned.

Still time to volunteer, if you haven't done so yet get in touch with Paul.

Looking forward to meeting up with you all once again.

Always a 2-dayer via Penny / SMT as the circuit treat Friday as a normal commercial test day and man it with their usual weekday crews. MGCC have traditionally put a small orange army on Assembly & Pits duties for Friday as well - I usually volunteer for Friday via MGCC, but the Silverstone staff do tend to wonder why we're there

Signing on is also a bit more complex for this one - MGCC do it at garage 0 from 07:15 Sat & Sun, with Fri at 08:00; SMT are in the usual paddock bar at 07:30 Sat / Sun.

MGCC are one of the more generous clubs - tea & coffee in garage 0 when you arrive; BBQ on Saturday evening, plus of course the thank you voucher they sent out at the beginning of the season for helping last year - time to find out where I filed it

Don't forget that MGCC also run a sprint on the Stowe circuit on Sunday - more helpers required!

Should be a good meeting

Looking at the grid sizes this should be a decent meeting.. most grids are high 30's - mid 40's. Take a look for yourself http://www.mgcc.co.uk/mg-racing/race...live-2011.html. Antony Reid has even put an entry in! See you there!

MGCC have traditionally put a small orange army on Assembly & Pits duties for Friday

Quite right:
We started doing this many years ago when we moved from the National Circuit to the International Circuit due to the popularity of this annual International Club Meeting.
It then became a 2 day meeting because of the very high number of entries making it impossible to pack all the practice sessions and races into 1 day. (Racing anything more than the National Circuit at Silverstone had not been available to many grass root club racers before this).
The test day was introduced to give Competitors good value for money, and this proved to be a very popular move, increasing the number of entries even more to around the 600 mark.
At this point the MGCC agreed to help out with the Marshalling on the Friday test day due to the large number of cars to be assembled, put out on track, given the facility of the pits, and to ensure that the very tight timing schedule was adhered to.
So, it was put on the availability forms as a 3 day event, because we need Marshals of any discipline willing to help out in the assembly area and the pit lane. You don't have to be specialised in these duties, as a full briefing and guidance will be given by the experienced Marshals.
I hope that this clarifies any confusion.
If you haven't exchanged your gift voucher for helping us last year, bring it with you on any of the days to sign-on in Garage 0 under Race Control, (the old one!), and get your badge and flask. Please note that this applies to all, including the SMT.
See you there Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

Pits Friday for me - hope none of you start-line folk try to stand in the middle of the track on Friday though

I'm helping out with the taster day on Saturday morning, so only running up & down the bank for a day and a half this time.

Cheers Paul,

I am in Production class A so have to run List 1A tyres ie normal road tyres not trackday tyres so big difference in grip levels with us at back compared to the Class B Trackday and Class C slick racers

We'll be using the old end of the circuit. I think this is probably best for all of us; they were still painting Race Control last Sunday

Excellent! I recall "instructing" you to stay for the afternoon on your welcome thread - hope the other taster day folk can stay for the afternoon too.

As the taster day sign-on starts after the unwashed masses go out to post, you might want to get there early for a marshals' breakfast in the paddock diner - chances are you'll spot a few 10thers filling their faces from 0730 onwards

Weather forecast isn't brilliant, but Silverstone often has a micro-climate different to the surroundings
