classic car mags

I subscribe to Motorsport magazine but increasingly I see the more traditional classic car mags (Classic Car and Classic and Sportscar) are covering historics in more detail - anyone else noticed this trend? Octane is still the leader IMHO

Probably classed as porn- well, old car porn...........

Yes Simon, IMO Octane & C&SC both have increased coverage of historic races and rallies. They started off with the high end events but seem to be broadening their outlook, which is good. Only problem is having to wait at least a month!

Possibly something to do with Mr Dron being a regular scribe to Octane?

C&SC have got Simon Taylor, de Cadenet, Coucher and Balme writing. Octane also have Mr Mason, of course. Probably more......

I like all of those columnists and reckon they largely write a lot of good sense along with Simon Kidston who I sat next to at the FoS Cartier lunch and was an alround good bloke.
However I really enjoy the guy who races an old Beemer - he takes his racing very seriously and normally spends most of the article slagging off his co driver and blaming them for his final position! His co - drivers change, his position normally doesn't - as Peter Mallet would say, go figure!!

And I thought Robert Coucher was editor of Octane.Surprised he is writing for C&SC although I have never noticed it.

Pleased you got on well with Mr Kidson.

Indeed he is John- 'International Editor' to be precise. Thanks for pointing out my mistake- got him confused with the other journo XK owner who writes in C&SC.
