2012 Argentinian TC2000
The TC2000 has announced the 12 dates for 2012, but only four venues:
March 11 - Oscar Cabalén de Córdoba April 1 - Buenos Aires streets April 22 - Rosario May 20 June 10 July 1 August 12 September 9 September 30 October 14 November 4 November 25 - Potrero de los Funes (FIA GT) As announced, the category will adopt a 2.7L V8 naturally-aspirated Radical engine that will deliver 430hp at 10.500rpm, more than the 390hp of the new Top Race V6 engine. Only 26 to 28 cars will race, so several privateers and ride buyers will be expelled. The old cars would be capped to slightly below 300hp, to be run as a support race for Formula Renault 2.0 graduates and other TC2000 hopefuls, not to mention refugees. But this hasn't been announced, neither teams. - o - The category has got two hard blows: Haz won't be a Ford factory team anymore, and YPF will drop its sponsorships from the team and the championship. Haz would turn into a privateer. Renault LoJack owner Edgardo Fernández will get out of activity, and has dismantled his team. V*ctor Rosso and Leo Monti's Petrobras team will become the new Renault works team - Petrobras will sign a deal with Renault to replace Elf as road car oil provider in South America. The drivers will include Guillermo Ortelli (Renault veteran and six-time TC champion), Leonel Pern*a and Mariano Altuna (current Petrobras drivers). In turn, Sportteam will become the new Honda (semi?) works team. Drivers would include Josito di Palma. Peugeot will drop the 307 and run the new 408. |

Fiat wont have a works team in 2012... this and Ford`s exit may suggest that they don´t like the idea of the V8`s Both manufacturers didnt mention this fact, but gave the same excuses: they will redistribute their "racing budget" to sponsor many other series and drivers, like Rallies or TN. This is starting to smell... (Only Toyota, GM, Peugeot and Renult left) |

From the start I never understood why did dumped the Berta spec engine.
Maximum grid size which forces privateers to leave the series is another thing I don't like. For many years TC2000 was one of the best touring car series in the world but currently I have not the impression they make the right choices.

The TC2000 boss Pablo Peón changed the engines because cars were too slow in contrast to the cornering speed. I liked watching them, but some said they looked slow on television and in real life. Most drivers supported the extra horsepower.
But it's strange that they changed the engine without considering if works teams supported the change. - o - Honda will return as a works team (it wasn't in 2011). |

According to this peacocky article, Ford has had a TC2000 works team since 1997.

I hope that Jose Maria "Pechito" Lopez to drive a good season and win the championship. I would also like Ricardo Risatti will be able to fight for the championship in the new team. Brazilian Caca Bueno drove this year TC2000 and Brazil Stock Car series.

Testing begins today and drivers are very happy with the new engine and paddle shift. The sound is incredible, like F1.
