Adam Parr to Leave Williams Grand Prix Holdings

Posted on Monday 26 Mar 2012

Williams Grand Prix Holdings PLC (WGPH, Ticker: WGF1) today announced that its Chairman Adam Parr has resigned from the Company. Adam will leave Williams on Friday 30 March 2012.
Nick Rose, ex-CFO of Diageo PLC and currently a Non-Executive Director of WGPH and two FTSE100 companies, has been appointed Non-Executive Chairman. Majority and controlling shareholder Frank Williams will continue to oversee the Company with the support of shareholder and Non-Executive Director Toto Wolff, Chief Executive Officer Alex Burns and the rest of the Board.
Founder and Team Principal, Frank Williams said, “I asked Adam to join Williams at the end of 2006 to support me in the running of our team. Over five years, Adam’s achievements have surpassed my expectations and I must thank him for his service. Not least for the decisive role he played in the technical changes made last year which are beginning to show through in the team’s improved competitiveness this season, and for leading this company to a successful IPO. Adam leaves us on good terms to pursue a better balance in his life for which I wish him and his family well. He has left us in good shape and I have every confidence that the Board and senior management team at Williams will continue to drive the business forward into a promising future.”
Adam Parr said, “I am very grateful to Frank for giving me the opportunity to work for Williams over the past five years – a period that has been both challenging and rewarding. Williams is a unique team with over 500 great-hearted and talented people and many superb partners in and out of Formula One. Williams is now set up to move forward and I wish everyone at Grove well.”
Nick Rose, Chairman, said, “I would like to thank the Board for nominating me as Non-Executive Chairman of Williams. When I joined the Company, my single purpose was to help restore the team to its former glory. Frank and the Board believe that I can best do this as Chairman and I gladly accept this responsibility. A lot of good work has been done to get us to this point but we must continue to work hard if we are to achieve our objectives.”

Hi mythoughtsareracing. Welcome to Ten-Tenths.

This link has been posted elsewhere, but it gives some reasons as to why Parr may have left. What do you think?

He annoyed me when he thought it was good the BBC had lost the F1 TV coverage, as the business was expensive and the teams needed the money from increased TV revenues because they didn't just need a tennis racket pair of trainers to compete, or words to that effect!

So in other words you lot watching at home need to give my team more money

For the real reason why he had to go, ask Bernie!

Some light is beginning to appear on why Parr left Williams. It seems that he left because of somebody outside Williams in F1. Now who is powerful enough to get somebody out of a team at Parr's level in a team.......

The reason for Adam Parr's departure is related to Bernie and the concorde agreement. It appears that Williams would not be offered a contract as long as Parr was with the team. The day after he resigned a contract was on the table.

Thanks wolfhound.

This was interesting:

"There is an absence, it seems to me, in the sport of reasoned and deep debate about how things should go."

Its Bernie's club that the banks own and they will tell you what to think!

And who you'll employ apparently!

a couple of reviews of it on amazon. not sure if im allowed to post a link for it though. only a couple of reviews on there and they both offer praise so take that for what its worth i guess.

it is a graphic novel and the forward is written by Max Mosley which is interesting by itself imo. its a very reasonable price and comes in a digital format so i will be adding it to my holiday reading list for sure.

It's a fantastic book, well worth reading. Under a fiver for the Kindle editions. Kindle apps are available for phones and the PC, as well as on the Kindle device itself.

Mine too.

Now this which seems to raise more questions than it answers.

http://www.pitpass.com/48153-Lawyers...ition-concerns

The premier league may be owned by 20 teams, but how does limited representation by 3 teams selected by the body in question compare?
If they are not allowed access to matters concerning other teams, then their participation is only nominal anyway? 2nd last paragraph would appear to be in direct violation of the responsibility of a director!

I don't think that even Caterham could find it in themselves to bad mouth the amount of money that they are getting (have got) from Bernie & Co for merely attaining tenth place, two seasons in a row.

Marussia, on the other hand, might want to complain, but they might also find that it works better for them not to say anything at this point in time. Particularly as attaining another tenth place finish next season (as Lotus did in 2010/11) will see them benefit just as much as Caterham have.

Just finished reading Adam Parr's book. It also gives a possible insight into why Bernie does not like the Mercedes F1 team.
