No, it's not about the points scale (although I vote for 30-24-23...). I propose multiple eliminations along the season to determine the champion. But instead of levelling up points, I propose the opposite.

o- All drivers get 1000 bonus points, even part-time drivers and start and parkers.

o- After round 16, the top 20 drivers in the standings keep the bonus points, and the rest lose them.

o- Every two rounds, the bottom two drivers lose their bonus points, until round 32 when the Fast Four are determined.

o- After the 36 races, the top driver in the standings is the champion, and the remaining Fast Four drivers lose the bonus points, so they get placed like they should.

The idea is that drivers must keep getting good results along the season, rather than cruise towards the Chase. And every point matters, because it counts in every elimination.

Does anyone not hate this championship format?

I'm not sure how that is really any different than the chase other than adding points that later get taken away? Seems like it would just be simpler and easier to explain to just run the points as usual until round X. Drop all drivers outside the top 12 and eliminate drivers as they fall back from there, until a 4 driver shootout at the finale round. But at the same time eliminate lead laps, most lead point bonuses and the win bonus (why not just make winning the race 46 instead of 43 plus 3 bonus points and then an additional 3 points per win when determining the Chase standings, at least that's how it reads to me.) Course I never agreed with reseeding the Chase drivers by wins, if a driver has 3 wins and 4 dnfs why should they be ahead of a driver with 2 wins, 5 seconds and no dnfs??
Just run the regular season points until whatever round the Chase is determined to start. Eliminate the rest of the field and continue with the previously earned points, possibly adding a bonus for winning races within the Chase as it could be tougher racing with drivers outside the Chase fighting for the rides. Also eliminate any start and parkers from the Chase races, but I'd fight to eliminate them from the series; no points before 50% of the race barring a wreck.

With more eliminations, there's more to discuss. And there's more chances to get eliminated, so it's more thrilling.
