After seeking some advice on this forum and watching some videos im very interested in getting into hillclimbing.
I would like to spec at an event or two to see for myself, where in the Uk is a good hillclimb to watch? |

Prescott is great, especially on nationals weekend. But, a rather long way away from you.

My suggestion would be Gurston Down. Not too bad to get to. Very much a clubman's venue. Lots of people who'll be very happy to answer questions and help. Excellent Spectator's track. |

Thanks for the advise guys, and some handy links.
Gurston isnt too bad to get to really. Looks like im a bit late for this year but will be there in april! That fits nicely around the 12car 'after darl' season so I would have something to do all year round! |

Yes, go to Gurston, and you'll probably see me there, whether you notice or not. I remember my first time there and I was walking round the paddock with my dad and we started talking to a couple of competitors. It's very friendly, and a good venue. The path to the real spectator zone is on a hill alongside the fastest part, so you get a really good idea of the speeds.

I know it might be a bit of a trek for you but the best place to watch a hillclimb is in Ballyalaban in Co Clare Ireland. 2.2 miles of harsh rocky landscape and a ribbon of road that God set out a few million years ago.
Oh and the average winning speed from a standing start on it is usually over 80 mph. Till you see it you aint seen crazy! Paul |

Prescott and Shelsley Walsh are great, classic, venues.
ALL hillclimbs have open paddocks, with very approachable competitors. Go and have fun. |

Hi. I marshal and compete at Shelsley Walsh, good spectating views from start line to finish. They also run a hillclimb school twice a year. Excellent tuition and confidence building runs up the hill. Other hillclimbs run similar schools.
